Years ago my brother and I were hunting deer near the Az\Mexico border. On our third night around 2am or so, two large SUVs pulled up to our campsite. We were sleeping in a small travel trailer. 4 men step out with guns and walked into the desert and came back half hour later with 4 large bags...
Guys don't give up. They are there. This was my first time hunting that unit and i personally seen plenty of bucks and not just in one location. I tagged out on opening evening and my buddy tagged out this morning . Ill be going back up there tomorrow morning and try to get my brother tagged out.
We are going to camp on the backside of Mayer in the desert portion of it. If we have to will just drive our quads to the higher elevation into the pine trees and colder temps. We will be there sometime Thursday morning setting up camp on the main dirt road.
In my group we have a kodiak 12x12 canvas and the big heater buddy works just fine in those cold mountain nights. No issues at all, just use a fan if you can, the heater buddy fan goes thru the batteries too fast.
Way to go on getting a premium tag with no points. I had the early 12a a few years back and I was not dissapointed in the amount of bucks that i saw. I passed a buck every day hoping for a bruiser . No luck on a bruiser but i did get a decent buck on my last evening hunt.
