    Cabo fishing suggestions

Going to Cabo in June and I'm looking for fishing guide suggestions. I'd love to chase big marlin, but for this trip I'm just taking the family out for a half day (most likely). Anyone have any suggestions? There are a ton down there, but I haven't started searching yet.

    Gaia - favorite layer combos

What are your favorite layers and setup? I really like Gaia, and just re-upped my subscription, but I haven't found that combination of layers that really gets me everything I want. It seems that when I get it really dialed close, I'm still missing something. Place names and landmarks (e.g...

FHF chest rig w/peak design clip?

Has anyone tried to attach a Peak Design Clip to the FHF chest rig? I'm not sure where it would attach, but I'm interested in using a chest pack to carry my Sony a6400 on the clip and an extra lens in the pack. My biggest lens is a 70-350 and it looks like it'll fit inside.

    Wyoming changes

I haven't really chewed on this yet, but it seems to indicate another major hurdle for non-resident hunters. https://blog.eastmans.com/wyoming-passes-90-10-the-worst-article-youll-read-this-year/

    Flushing birds and shooter pics

Anyone have tips/tricks for capturing pics of flushing birds? I'm mainly concerned with getting the shooter and birds in focus, so I know I want to run a small aperture with a wide-ish lens. What are your lens choices, settings, etc. I currently have a Sony a6400, 16mm prime, 18-135, and...

    Tell me about "dialing"

I'm an old school 3-9x kind of guy and I haven't paid any attention to newer styles of scopes that allow you to dial, point, and shoot. What's a basic dial-able scope setup for standard rifle calibers? I'm looking for a hunting-specific setup that will cover ranges from 0-500 yards. I know...

What's your butchering setup look like?

Mainly wondering what cutting boards and surfaces you're using for processing. I have a large plastic cutting board I put on the kitchen counter. The height is right, but the board wants to slide around a lot. I'm looking for other options and tools that help with home butchering. Current...

    Black bear temperature (trichinosis)

This is kind of a dead horse, but there's no consensus. 160F is the old school, safe temperature to kill trichinosis. That's well established. Newer info is saying 137F will do it. Does anyone have anything definitive saying 137F is okay? I go to 140+ just to be sure, but there's no way to know...

    Kowa 773 lens covers

Anyone know of, or have experience with, aftermarket lens covers? Kowa's objective cover is ok, but the eyepiece cover is a turd - it falls off constantly.

    Sony users - Tamron?

Any Sony users out there (particularly aps-c) using the Tamron 17-70 lens? I have the Sony 18-135mm for my a6400, but I'm considering the tamron for better low light and indoor use. I also have the sigma 16mm, which is awesome.

    Zoleo + Gaia

$50 off a zoleo gps device plus a free year of Gaia. Just ordered one thru Amazon and need to activate the Gaia by 6/30. My Spot was set to renew next week, so good time to switch over.

    Galaxy S21 digiscope adapter release

I just ordered a galaxy S21 phone. I plan on getting a Phone Skope or Otter Box to attach it to my Kowa 773. The S21 was just released in January '21. Anyone know how quickly those companies usually start churning out cases that fit new phones?

    Rokslide donations

Who knew you could contribute to rokslide? I just noticed it on the menu bar (I rarely look at anything aside from the forums). Pretty nice to chuck a few bucks in there, occasionally, I suppose. I spend money on a lot of less valuable crap. Anyway, I just tried and got a paypal error, so it...

    Kowa 773 (from Razor 65mm)

I was bitten by the spotting scope bug during the Fall and I upgraded from a first gen Vortex Razor 65mm to the Kowa 773. I'm running through a comparison of the scopes, so I thought I'd share some information as I go (plus, I'm bored). A little background on my scope history. I've been...

    Kowa warranty - original owner?

Anyone have experience with kowa's warranty service as a second (or more) owner? Their warranty is good for the original owner, but that doesn't seem to be an issue for some vendors.

    Flight carry-on (Exo)

Has anyone flown United, since the COVID blow up, with an Exo K3 4800, or similar? I'm wondering if they'll let me take it as overhead carry-on. I know plenty of people have in the past, but I didn't see anything since the pandemic.

    Brittany poodle mix

Of course, everyone's mixing every breed with a poodle nowadays. Anyone know if the Brittany poodles are good upland bird hunters? I'm not too interested in getting one, but it's a possibility. I would imagine they'd be about half or 3/4 as good as a full-bred Brit. It's hard to find anyone...

    Tongue recipes?

I'm going to cook elk tongue for the first time this weekend. The plan is smoked tongue tacos. The general consensus seems to be boil for 2-3 hours, peel skin off, then cook the meat however you'd like. I'll throw it on the smoker for a few hours with a rub. But...I'm open to any...

    Bird dog hernia recovery

Anyone have experience with hernia surgery and recovery with their bird dog? My Brittany has one in her belly button area and I'm curious about how long she may be out of service if surgery is required. Luckily, it's not painful at all for her, but I do want to get it fixed asap, even if it...
