Just got back from a 2-Day overnighter in the Montana backcountry in below-freezing weather and 2 feet of snow… the insulated Salomon Quest were incredible, warm, comfortable, durable, and got the job done…. Unlike me…. Who continues to repel elk like the plague while old men from Ohio take down...

Is Opening Weekend Worth It? (MT Rifle)

I like to let the elk get completely paranoid and bumped to private land, go out on a Tuesday, watch them filter onto the ranches by the hundreds, and then go cry in my tent while I attempt to feel my toes again. Love a good tradition!

What do you carry in that backpack??

From experience, if I don't bring it, I wish I had it. Many times finding a better camp, better place to set up, or get cold... a storm rolls in.. what exactly do you expect to carry the meat out in? Truck hunting rules don't really apply....

Garlic Parmesan Moon Cheese or any of the "parmesan crisps" out there now are the best salty/savory/crunchy snack that hit the spot

    Soft Bars

The citrus or oil-based LARA bars seem to hold up the best. Lemon, lime, and coconut are my go-tos in the colder weather.
