So I currently use trail runners as my hunting “boot”, flexible, light and fast. However, I have a 10 day elk hunt in New Zealand (I live here) coming up so it’s time to up my boot game. I’ve tried stuff boots before and didn’t like it at all, so looking for a happy medium. My two current...
Hey everyone,
I’m looking to a buy a second-hand a high quality release aid (either thumb or back tension) While living in New Zealand has some amazing benefits, access to good archery gear isn’t one of them.
Anything along the lines of a Carter Wise choice or Evolution would be ideal...
Water bladder and single skin stainless steel bottle. I try to stay away from plastics but there isn’t a better way for a large supply like a bladder. Steel bottle also works well with warm water on those colder nights.
Base layer is a must for me, then my insulating puffy layer has it as well. Otherwise I choose not to have a mid layer one as that seems to cause the “bulk” of a build up.
I strap mine to my pack for the most part and don’t use poles so my hands are free. I hunt in the mountains so I generally have a big hike in where it’s strapped back, then glass and when I find something, carry it in my hands.
Hey everyone,
I’ve just got into bow archery for bow hunting purposes and had a quick question.
What are your thoughts on the Carter Convertible?
I live in New Zealand and the choices I have in releases is quite small. My nearest archery shop is a 6 hour drive away or the best one in the...
Appreciate the info! Definitely leaning towards getting some for my upcoming 10 day ek hunt. I only wear barefoot shoes outside of hunting so my feet should be fine.
How were they for sizing? Heard mixed things about them.
That photo you attached is exactly the environment I’m thinking of. I live in New Zealand and all we do is back country hunt in that type of terrain. I wear altras and they’re great but looking at a stronger boot with a flexible feel. I was given some brand new traditional style boots but I...
I have a 10 day elk hunt coming up so looking to get some. I’ve always worn trail runners for the flexibility but think I need boots for my next trip, hence thinking of these. Do they feel closer to a trail running shoe then a boot? Also, did you feel the rocks poking up through the gaps in the...
I’m currently trying to figure this out myself. I’m a carpenter and the closest I’ve found are safety boots by “keen” asymmetrical safety toe and they’re regular sizes are a bit wider then most other boots. They also offer “wide fits” not sure on the zero drop but I’ll take the wide toe box and...
That’s the goal. I’d love to have two but need the money for my bow! Just wish the metcalf had the 270 and organisation.
Black ovis is having that sale at the moment, hence going with MR… otherwise I’d probably go with stone glacier.
I’d love one of those packs but MR is 25% off US prices, and my in-laws are coming over so I won’t have to pay for international shipping. Taking that saved cash and putting it towards my bow!
Thanks for the insight! This decision would be a whole lot easier if I could go into a store and see them in person.
Appreciate the insight. It would be so much easier if I could check them out in person
thanks! I know there’s a reason the metcalf is the most popular selling pack. I don’t...
