Yep, twice in fact. Sold all my trad gear and sticking with compound from now on. I never could quite get the hang of it outside of 20 yards. Even 20 and under was sometimes a chore. Cost me a bull last September. Two weeks after my elk hunt I started selling everything. Life is much happier now. 🤣
Move rest first. From the first post or the thread title it sounds like your arrows with field points fly true so no need to paper tune again or even twist yokes. If the arrows with broadheads are flying true but to the left of field points then adjust your rest first before any yoke tuning. It...
Shoot with a heavier trigger for back tension. That would be my only advice but I don’t shoot with back tension. It messed me up big time. I was launching arrows all over to the sky. I pull the trigger just like I do on a rifle, slow and steady. Works great for me. The only thing I might...
Deer behavior was the same except that they may stay in their bed longer on a warm day. Also, mule deer are a lot more jumpy and nervous in the morning than late afternoon and evening.
Be prepared for really cold weather and for those bluebird sunny days when the temp can hit 40-50. It won’t affect your bow any except for the creaking noises. No snakes to worry about since they have gone into their dens long before January. There aren’t many in a Northern unit anyway. Get on...
Wait, you aren’t even sure which unit you drew!? When you put in for the draw and click on the choice you want a box pops up below the hunt choice automatically telling you what unit it is. Then you should write it down….. lots of outfitters in the state but you better figure out your unit first.
Merriams, yes sir. There might be a mix in this area though with some Rio’s. Not many turkeys in this area originally. A large landowner had a bunch of Rio’s and “accidentally” released them into the wild about 20 years ago or so, maybe longer. Eventually, more Merriams moved in from southern CO...
I have a Blackfoot 2.0 and it’s a fantastic knife! My only regret is not getting it in their magnacut. I have no problems with how he runs his business. Great success story from a tiny company to what it is now. The only issue I have is I don’t like the clip on the kydex sheath. It adjusts...
I’ve shot single pin for over 30 years even when there were no single pin vertical sights. The trick is to set it at a distance like 30 or 35 yds and you don’t move it. Practice distances from 45-10 and know what your gaps are. Range distances before the elk comes in so you know what those...
Steve O,
It’s funny because a lot of guys go crazy over the draw results this time of year. It’s a well known fact that we play jokes on each other, friends , family, etc. about draw results.
I think the joking around about draw results is pretty dang funny.
When NMhunter516 asked if anyone had drawn through using E-tags I couldn’t resist. No one asked about the first draw in NM which is for bear and turkey. I had to have a little bit fun. My son drew a youth turkey tag and I chose the E-tag option. 🤣
I’m off to bed as well. Put in a lot of miles today, chased a lot of critters through the mountains. My boy got “buck” fever twice and missed. Still scratching my head on how he missed but it happens.
I’ll check in the morning for some great laughs from all of you. 🤣
