I only share/trade raw bear meat with my taxidermist and my butcher, both know what's up. And I only cook sous vide (90 min @ 155) or roast (6 hrs at 250). Love it.
Last year I chose the 147gr eld-m and glad I did. 350 yards, quartering to, pencil hole entrance right behind front leg, pencil hole exit right in front of opposite rear leg, instant death in her tracks from massive hydrostatic shock.
Thanks. I took my first bear last year in an adjacent unit that was otc for September and it was loaded with all manner of hunters. Got it done but it was tough. Hoping for a different experience this year...
About to burn all my bear points for a September rifle hunt and I've narrowed it down to unit 61 or 66 due to proximity from me and the least amount of tags and other hunters. Which holds better bears, 61 or 66? Any help appreciated!
Did you make it out to scout? I'm hunting the same tag and live near the unit. Acorns are going to be great but are still behind in a lot of areas. Berries seem to be abundant already. Sounds to me like you're on the right track.
