    DIY game bags

Sometimes meat will hang for the night and be hiked out in the morning. But generally meat is hiked out same day. Thanks again for the .02$

    DIY game bags

Thanks for the inpout. I live in Hawaii and it's very humid. Will the light .7-1.3 ripstop nylons breath enough to allow meat bags to drain and allow some air circulation? @WoodBow

    DIY game bags

Was wondering if anyone here knew what type of materials the modern ultralight game bags (argali etc) are made from? Would probably save a lot of coin sewing them myself. Thank you :)

    Aloha from Hawai'i

I do fairly well conpared to many. Theres a lot of deer here and its not difficult to put yourself on fresh sign. Sneaking up on those things is another story. I think the reported success rate is like 2% or even lower. When me and a few friends go out it feels like 75% one of us will get...

How many rounds do you pack in with you on a hunt?

I fill the rifle, and carry an extra 5 or so. I'm not planning on getting in a shootout with a feral goat, so bring enough to shoot a few times, then top off the rifle again.

    Cheap Stuff that Works

The Dexter Russel 3.5" Vegetable Utility Knife is worth a look if you're looking for an absolutely awesome, lightweight, SHARP blade in the 3-4" range. It weighs 1.7oz(listed weight) and costs 10-20$ depending when/where you purchase it. The blade is thin, so don't use it for hacking and prying...

    Aloha from Hawai'i

Hey everyone. Been lurking for a looooong time here on Rokslide, decided to join the party. Born and raised in Hawai'i and live on Kaua'i. Grew up fishing and one day we chased some wild pigs with our pocket knives. My friend bought a bow shortly after, and then I followed suit. Have been...

What do you take to eat for a day hunt?

I usually bring a sandwich for lunch, 1-2 probars or comparable bars, some dried fruit and nuts, and some sort of candy (snickers, skittles, peanut m&ms etc) for a sugar boost when I'm gassed out. Its only a day hunt, and you'll be back at your truck and cooler in the evening so no need to bring...

Best backcountry coffee solution I have found, Jogo straw.

Check out the GSI Coffee Filter, it weighs nothing, cleans with a flick of the wrist and best of all....you get to drink ACTUAL COFFEE in the morning! Bring a little powdered creamer and some coffee grinds and you're good to go. I personally can't handle the bitter taste of instant coffees. The...

    "Hunting" knife vs fillet/boning knife

I do all my in field processing with a rosewood handled Victorinox 5" curved boning knife. I have been exclusively using it for nearly 15 years. I use the knife to gut, skin and debone. I have used many "hunting knives" which all performed well, but can't match the versatility of a small...
