Do you hit your dog ?

Depends on the dog. My current dog is so obsessed with food that there has never been a need to touch him. Trained him early with food and that's all that was needed.

How did you guys who had no one to teach you get into hunting?

Was in a big fishing family growing up. Nobody hunted but I got a cheap fiberglass bow for my 8th grade graduation. Got hooked on shooting that. Eventually got a compound. Neighbor moved in who hunted. Let me sit in his treestand and I got hooked. Took my 5 years to kill my first deer. Wasn't...

Cellular Trail / Property Cam Recommendations ?

I have had good luck with the Spypoints although I am not in a remote area. Good cell service in the area... no wifi on the property. They are pretty cheap and the basic plan is free. Just busted tresspassers with them last week. Got this pic, five minutes later the PD was there. See attached...

    Eva Shockey Setup

    Mission Riot- spongy back wall?

Picked up a used Mission Riot for my daughter. While watching her shoot, I noticed at full draw the cams were still moving. Doesn't seem like the bow has draw stops so no hard back wall on the draw cycle. (if I could get her to anchor correctly this wouldnt be a big problem). But definitely...

    Clark Hammock NX-270 thoughts

Thinking about upgrading to one of these. Right now I have the Clark Ultralight which I don't think is made anymore. I love it but its a little cold for elk hunts and my daughter used it recently (loved it) and has offered to take it off my hands for free. So would love to hear the pro's and...

Side effects of lasik/prk and the outdoor experience

Lasik is awesome. Only issue I had was my right eye got to 20/20 but my left eye got to 20/15. And I was right eye dominant. First time I tried to shoot a shotgun after Lasik was not pretty.

Big crazy in little California! The Colorado PAUSE act ballot initiative

Take as many kids fishing and hunting as you can. Tomorrow's voters. Especially kids that aren't your own. Its the only hope we have. Last weekend I took my 14 year old daughters new friend... she had never been fishing before in her life. She might be hooked.

What do you say to anti-hunters?

Where I live (NJ) only 2% of the population hunts. So you pretty much talk to non-hunters everyday. It is amazing how many people don't know a hunter and it is mind-boggling how little they know about animal populations, conservation and hunting. I talk about hunting every chance I get. I also...

    Fly Fishing

9 ft 5 weight is really versatile. Problem with anything smaller is the minute you get hooked on panfish you are going to want to try for bass. I've caught everything from 3 inch brookies to stripers on a 5 wt. Eventually you'll have about 6 or 7 different rods but for starters a 5 wt is hard to...
