Started too old to be a great Sheep hunter but I get up in the mountains almost every year!
My favourite scope for Mountain use is the now discontinued Vortex 1.5-8X Razor 1inch tube with the G4 reticle. 8X with that great dot makes 540 yard shots pretty consistent and 1.5 on the low end is...
I wrote Alpacka this is what they had to say about sealing the drain holes on the Forager
"Thanks for reaching out! We have heard that Tyvek or Gorilla Tape works well to temporarily seal holes on the underside of a self-bailing floor. The caveat is that you should remove the tape after each...
Thanks... It's been a pretty good boat with a bit of a learning curve. For example with two people you need to use 2 canoe paddles rather than 2 kayak paddles as you can see on the video we interfered with one another. There is a shred apart kayak paddle that breaks down in 4 peices and...
The advantage of a self bailing floor is in rough water you don't need to bail the boat out.....it just drains out the floor the problem is in calm waters you always have a bit of water in the boat under the inflatable zip in floor. It gets you wet and negatively effects the handling..... BUT...
Here is the widget..It's by Exped. Also works as a battery bank and a lantern. Fills up the air mattress as well! I also use it with a length of hose to cool my rifle barrel between strings. Great gear!

Late to the party... never looked at the PR49 in person but it looks really good. I got a great deal on a Forager and it's certainly better with a load or if you sit low in it. Taping up the self-bailing holes really helped as I don't always wear a dry suit and was tired of either feeling...
It's a good little spotter. I actually love the focus adjustment on the gen 1 Baby Razor more than the newer version. Very quick to get into perfect focus. Mine has very good sharpness right up to 33X.
HOWEVER, the eye piece does not offer as comfortable of a viewing experience as the new...
It's funny how little the gold ring HD gets written about. It's a fair bit bigger than the Razor, a bit heavier but optically similar however the Leupold has way better eye relief and the eye relief makes it easier to use from difficult positions
Ti-Goat is out of business. The owners son started a different company that makes poles and cookware. You could contact him and see if they still fix the ti-pi's but I doubt it. You could also try to locate a local sewer. Ti-Goats son is here. https://rutalocura.com/
I have the baby Razor and the dual focus on it is by far its best feature. It is very easy to use and I won't be upgrading to the newer 56mm because I like it so well.
Leupold fixed 2.5X. 8 Oz's that lasted 20 years on a variety of 358 Norma's to 458 Winchesters...when it finally developed a rattle It was replaced by Leupold with a brand new one free of charge which is better in every way. Great eye-relief and enough magnification for a big bore lever.
Have the cute little 20x50 but feel the need for more magnification. If you have a 30x60mm Leupold and are willing to ship to the Yukon let me know.
Greg
The other compact scope that never gets reviewed is the Leupold 12-40X60HD. It's in the same weight class as the various 56mm spotters and I'd love to see it compared but it's like it doesn't exist? As a glasses wearer I really like the long eye relief.
Phil...thanks for asking
I ended up putting a 2.5-8X Leupold on it with the Boone and Crockett reticle. Loaded it to a sedate 2915 fps with 155 grain Berger VLD hunting bullets with H4350. Got a 4 shot group of just over O.5 MOA and proceeded to figure out how to hit all 8" plates out to...
3 person, 3 pound tent with one long pole. In high mountain winds holding onto the pole with both hands to stop the shelter from collapsing cut into our sleep and peace of mind a tad!
I have the UDAP. It's not super-powerful especially when relying on the actual ground to hot wire connection. As has been said lots of variables there that can lesson the "zap" However when touching a hot wire and a grounded wire at the same time the current gives an unpleasant jolt...
