Quick question.
I'm headed to Alaska to the N Slope of the Brooks in Late August 2018. I currently have a North Face 15* down bag that I cook in when hunting Idaho in mid September at 7,000', night temp as low as upper 20s. The reading I've done recommends Hollofil instead of down because of...
I was curious about the same situation with the Snake River and Palisades zones. We hunt the Beaverhead and I'm anticipating more hunter traffic where we hunt because of Ririe res. fire.
Hoping it's much ado about nothing.

Good topic, and can never be discussed too often, IMO, with the many archers getting in to elk hunting.
While I have had limited experience on elk (3 hunts in the last 4 years) I have had shots on bulls during each of those hunts and my partners have also been 100% on shot opportunities as well...
I purchased these Scarpa Pro GTX boots for my western hunts and found out that my unusually wide feet don't agree with the toe box in these boots. They are a size 12 US like new out of the box!

$329.99...
We're looking at Arrowhead Outfitters and it's a fly in drop off.
I just bought a pair of Scarpas that I'll wear in Idaho elk hunting this fall. So far I really like them and the support they provide my ankles, whether or not they're waterproof enough, is to be determined.
I like the idea of...
.....for August caribou hunt in the Brookes Range.
I'm part of a group that's considering a 2018 trip to AK for bou.
We'll be hunting the Brookes Range and looking for recommendations on the best option(s) for boots in that terrain.

Third time in the last 4 seasons chasing elk in Idaho, and my second 6x6 in as many years.
Killed this bull at 2:30 p.m. on 9/22 at 15 yards.
Small world.
I took the meat to Jone's to be processed because that's who did it last year, but they weren't taking any wild game because they had USDA beef hanging in all their coolers. Ended up heading south to IF another 20 minutes and got there just in time!
Day 9, Saturday
Our last hoorah!
We were up and on our way toward the Red canyon Saturday morning. This would be a relatively close hunt with up a trail that was easy to navigate before we’d turn off and head up the steep slopes to where we anticipated intercepting a bull. Quiet filled the air...
