So, I’ve taken brown bears with a rifle, pistol, and bow. I guess spear is the logical next choice.
Anyone here have any spear experience with any hunting? This is a new endeavor and I’m researching it but there’s a lack of good info I can find on quality spears, makes or models out there?
17 years ago I drew a goat tag for what was then the south end of Kodiak island. I was stoked. My wife. Was not. It was right during her due date with out first child. So. No goat hunt.
Fast forward, Hunter is how 17, birthday was last week and we have another goat tag. Seemed fitting that for...
Been a while since I’ve spent much rokslide time. Life’s been crazy but for the first time in 20 years I was able to take some time to hunt for myself! We set up a bait station and both my oldest boys and new vegetarian wife were able to connect on their first bears as well as I was able to get...
Fun hunt with a couple clients. Figure some pictures would be fun.
We shot this bear with a 300 short mag, as there was no 6.5 creed around....haha

I’ve been guiding in Alaska for 20 years now. Half my life. Have ran my own guide business for 14 of those years. I do my best to be honest with people, fair with my clients and treat the wilderness and game with respect. I have turned guided in for violations that I have witnessed, and...
Trip number three is behind me! Flew out with a great guy from WI, works in a ER. Man I was sure hoping my skill set came in more handy that his did on this trip! Things went smoothly. Bear tracks each day on the mountains, saw a sow with triplets then this beauty of a boar working his way...
Just got back from second hunt of the year. Loads of snow made for a amazing five days of slogging around in snowshoes, sunburns, wind burns, white outs, snow storms, hail storms, blowing snow. However amidst normal winters conditions we saw three Grizz and were able to knock out a three mile...
I have a hilleberg one man enan tent. It has been modified with better end ventilation and additional tie out points. Only damage was a melt spot on door screen that has gorilla tape on it. Includes foot print. Otherwise in great shape, only used a couple times. I can get photos of these things...
Looking at this floorless stuff as an option to bring along as a gear/cook/skinning/emergency shelter. I already carry a 12’ Noah tarp andnthis would replace that. The black diamond megamid light so far is the cheapest lightest thing i have found. What else is out there that isn’t outrageous...
Maybe some of you have this model already. I just wanted opinions on what sort of gun bearer systems have worked best for you? As well as rain covers? I’ve been happy with it so far, made in America which is important and the waistbelt has a solid tightening system that has been working great...
Looking at a pair of swarovski 10x25
Pocket mountain binoculars for my Sheep and goat hunting. Swaro are the only brand I’ve looked thru. Anyone here spent any time with the Ziess or Leica pocket glass?
What have you guys used? I’ve got an old brunton that I used for the first time this fall and loved it. But it’s a decade old, what’s out there now that guys are using?
Looking for a stiffer boot than my cabelas Alaskans, I see lots of great looking boots. But can’t find them in wide widths. I’m only a 10ee but everyone I’ve found only makes a D width. Anyone got ideas?
I’ve used mountian hardware pct 1 and serria
Designs lightyear with awesome success for about a decade for everything mountian related. The Kodiak goat hunts get some wind that is just unreal. Well over 100mph gusts. Those little tents faired much better than this years north face bastion 4...

Only in Alaska?! Had a cow tag and five minutes down the road this cow was nice enough to stare at the muzzle flash of a 243 while my boy punched her thru the ribs with a 80gr Barnes vortex. 20 yards. Love moose hunting like this...
