SIG SAUER KILO2000 Review, by Justin Crossley

A while back, SIG SAUER sent their new KILO2000 rangefinder to Rokslide for some field testing. Currently I'm working on the full article, and figured I would share some initial thoughts, and photos with you. The recent weather has been pretty cruddy, but I have had a chance to take it on a weekend coyote hunt, and also out for some long range shooting. So far, this little unit has been very impressive.

4/20/16 Update:

Editor's note- We just published Justin's final review on the KILO2000 rangefinder. Justin puts the KILO up against Leupold, Vortex, G7, and Leica. Seems all things considered, the KILO2000 is a great rangefinder for the money!

We have been comparing the Kilo2000 to some other great rangefinders.

I was easily, and quickly able to range this plate at 730yds. The unit had no trouble picking it up, and I would get a range with every button push.

We were shooting, and hunting in rolling hills, which can be difficult for some rangefinders. The Sig Kilo2000 never missed a beat.

I have been really impressed with mine as well. Consistently reads past 1200 yards easily. Optically it is good and I love how fast I get my reading back.

Angle compensation at archery ranges?

The only thing I don't like about it so far is that on the "auto" brightness setting.....in very low light, it is hard to see the readings. And if I use the manual settings to make low light readable, then it's hard to see the readings in bright light.

Are the readouts red or black?

Yes angle comp at any yardage. I have tested mine at 6 yards and it comps. Read outs are Red.

What does it compare to as far as the quality of the glass?

My opinion is, as good or better than Leupold, not quite as good as Leica.

just got mine today, was going to start comparing it to a nikon, leica, bushnell elite 1 mile and vector21's... just messing with it today I can tell its a sweet little piece of gear and money will have been well spent once I get some use out of it.

My Dad got one of these. I messed around with it in the neighborhood for a few minutes.

The readings were crazy fast, even while scanning. I was quickly going back and forth between features on houses out to 400yds and it was giving the same readings time and time again. I got a reading past 800yds just holding it free hand.

I don't think the glass is quite as good as the Leica units I've seen, but then again, does it really need to be? It was plenty good enough for any use I'd ever have that's for sure, it was better than the Leupold I'm using now.

Seemed like a pretty sweet unit in the 5-10 minutes I played with it.

I have been enjoying mine too. Took it out this weekend on my turkey hunt and got a positive range just shy of 2 grand, while glassing some elk.

On Saturday morning my buddy and I were hunting spring bear in overcast conditions. I was getting 1,500-1,600 yds on trees easily, and was even able to get over 1,900 yds in a couple spots. This rangefinder just continues to impress me.
