Dove into this project last night. Materials used were 1.7oz MTN XL Ripstop Hybrid. 7.5oz Apex for insulation. Hopefully I’ll finish up the foot box tonight and the middle seam but hard telling how far i will actually get. As it stands right now it comes in at 2#3oz. The temp rating was based on others feedback so I’m not putting much faith into it, I’ll test it out during the spring and summer to gain more perspective.

Great project I plan on making me and my wife some. Definitely saves money if you have the means to do it.

Looking to make a similar bag myself this year. I've done quit a bit of research into sleeping bag temp rating and it's a worm hole that I don't want to go down again, but I'm hoping to get a comfort rating of 20 deg. out of 7.5 apex. Please post back when you test yours out. I would be interested to see if it can be pushed lower. My plan was to use 1.1 oz silpoly and hopefully come in under 2 lbs. It looks that will be possible given your weight and material. Thanks for posting.

As of right now without a hood I’m at 2# 6oz as i had to redo some stitching and setup, this is a big learning experience so Gen2 will be much different. I would use a much slicker material on the inside
