Congrats! One of my favorite animals to hunt.

Very impressive animals in even more impressive country.

Good luck.

I was fortunate to draw a tag in 2011 at the age of 64. I whole heartedly urge you to train hard! I found out in June and trained hard until my hunt in Oct. was the most difficult, satisfying hunt of my career. I suggest one of those stair step machines at least two hours daily. The hike into high country with a pack approx. the same weight that you will use to hunt. BTW, hike into the country that you drew a tag for. Utilize a range finder to guesstimate distances. Practice shooting out to what you deem your competent long distance. Practice shooting at extreme angles up and down. Now, have a real great hunt and train hard. Your adventure will be a lifetime of memories. Good luck!! MTG

Headed into the country to find some Goats. I've got the last week of September, the last three weeks of October and the first two weeks of November off to find one. Dear Lord hope it doesn't take that long.

Wife and I both drew goat for this state fairly easily. (LUCK)
We found that the timeframe in early October was best. It beats dangerously deep snow, and obviously the hair is far better than earlier.

Hold out for a billy! A lifetime of saying "I finally got my Billy" is worth it, and the resourse is better for it.
Good luck!

Tons of snow, not many goats, but the Deer were sure out. Only saw this guy from a mile away. Next week I'll get him.
