Hey folks, I have been shooting 162’s out of my 1-8” barrel for awhile and they seem to group well but are slightly inconsistent. I’d like to try the 175’s as they seem a little better fitted for the faster twist. What grain projectile are you guys shooting from a 1-8 twist 7mm rem mag?

Run heavier bullets in an 8 twist. Its enough for 195s.

We run Berger 180 vld in our 8.44 twist Proof barrels around here. They absolutely hammer critters. Buddy's dad took an elk at 1100 yards with two shots. They set up almost on a lark and let him shoot, but it was perfect conditions and dad shot well.

How do you like the vld’s? I’ve heard mixed reviews similar to the eldx In that they tend to disintegrate.

They penetrate and then send pieces in a wide path destroying tissue. They are messy and when you find pieces they are small. The performance I look for.

Only my elk this year didn't drop in one shot. He stood there dying and I put two more in him and he tipped over.

These were found in the leg of a coues deer after it went through his lung, liver, stomach and then out to blow a crater in his leg that looked like hamburger mixed with grass. 20201212_135343.jpg
