Anyone have a pet recipe for their 300 WM, using the 181 Shock Hammers, H1000, and Gunwerks brass?

I haven’t tried the Hammer bullets but the sound great!

I talked to Steve and he recommended using IMR 4831. I thought I had a little, but I don’t. BUT I do have a lot of H1000. Can I assume I would use a similar charge as the one (76 g) I use for 180 GMX?

Thank you!

I'm close to the same components, 181 Hammer hunters, ADG brass, h1000 and GM215M primers. In my gun, a CA Ridgeline, I'm @ 74.0 gr. and getting 2330 FPS and groups under 1/2". I'm not going more than 74.0 in my gun for now as I'm averaging 80 fps over my expected max velocity of 3150 fps. I need to do more load work but I'm real happy with my initial results.

Thanks so much for the reply! Quick question tho, approx what’s your muzzle velocity? You mentioned 2 different numbers. Thank you again!

I'm getting 3230 FPS with 74.0 gr. if you go to the hammer bullet forum, there is a long thread on 181s in the 300 Win Mag. and most people are hitting pressure signs just north of 3150 fps. The biggest difference I see between my load and what your looking to do is the bullet, the shock hammers and the hammer hunters are a slightly different profile. I can't say for sure but the shock hammers appear to have more bearing surface requiring less powder. I've herd Gunwerks brass is made by ADG and thus the same. Personally if I were you I would start out at 70-71 grains and bump up in .5 increments watching velocity and pressure signs.

Well I I finally ordered my Shock Hammers and received them yesterday. Hoping to work up some loads this weekend. I just wanted to revive this thread to see if any more suggestions with H1000 and 181 SHock Hammers.

Nosler data, (Hammer owner, Steve recommends following) calls for 77-81g H1000. Much higher than the 71g start recommend below.

I don’t want pressures right away, but I don’t wanna bullet stuck in the barrel either.

Anymore suggestions?

Worried about stabilizing in that barrel? Doesn't Hammer recommend a 1:9.5?
