I caught another one with my wife and kids along. The rancher is going to be running sheep in this country starting Saturday so I'll have to pull this line and find a new place to trap.

Hopefully not my last one for 2019... But my 5th of the year with a Rimfire!

I stalked this young coyote while out shooting rabbits on my property. She was with another young coyote who spotted me at 250 yards and starting trotting away slowly. I laid prone as he turned away to jog off... This one started to run off too, but turned back towards me after about 20 yards of jogging. The dog was facing directly at me for a brief moment... I let it fly and she caught a 3,000 feet per second 20 grain .17WSM to the face at 270 yards. Dropped where she stood.

Man seeing all these pics makes me want to get out there and get a few for myself! Probably going to ask a few friends if they know any ranchers who'd like some removed.

Shot a couple more behind the house after we had a steer die. I put the carcass where I could check it mornings before feeding. Got one more with the AR 73gr ELD-X at 175 yards and one with my old Sako 243 and 90gr Accubonds. I also got one with my 6.5 Creedmoor on the way back from deer hunting at 150 yards. I'm up to 19 for the year I think.

Snowing now and deer season is over today, I hope to get some more this week. I got my pack loaded and everything ready for when I get done choring tomorrow.

I'm going to re-zero the 243's with the HSM 69gr Berger loads they like since deer season is over. They also both like 90gr Accubonds so I had them dialed for those as an all-around bullet. I usually end up loaning out a rifle or two during deer season when a friend has an issue with their gun. It's easier for me to loan them a gun rather than help fix their issue during deer season. We figure them out after. It can take time and more ammo than they usually have on hand (especially of the same weight/brand) to figure out if the gun that hasn't been cleaned since 2000 or the $30 Simmons or Tasco is the issue. Letting them use one of my rifles with a Leupold VX-3 or better scope often convinces them to upgrade their whole set-up and makes it easy on both of us!

I traded for a Browning 6.5 Creedmoor I'll use for antlerless season so the 243's can stay on coyote duty for the rest of this year. If the wife wants to go I have the 25-06 dialed in with 100gr loads that work on anything. Now that I have both those the 243's might shoot the light bullets permanently and not get switched over to deer bullets in the future.

The Sako .260 got the call for one more outing before I packed it up for my whitetail hunt last month. It performed like it always does. 395 yards. DRT.
