I had a really good month- 200 miles, a good mix of running, hiking and snowshoeing; almost half of those miles were from last weekend for the Bob Marshall Wilderness Open. 91 very (very) hard earned miles.

Puts me at 835 for the year which is exactly on pace for 2000, still probably a little too lofty goal, but worth shooting for :)

803 miles of running this year so far. Outside elevation gain is 18,900ft, treadmill elevation gain is around 50k. Being on the treadmill as much as I was has really weakened me overall. I attempted my second 50 mile ultra two weekends ago and my quads cramped up hard and I injured my IT band on my right side (I got DQ'd for time at mile 40). Now I'm nursing that and trying to get healed so I can run again (no miles last week and only 9.8 this week).

All-in-all it has been a pretty disappointing month, training-wise. Hopefully June is a bit more productive.

968.76 miles for the year. Didn't get as many miles last month as I hoped to. Still on pace to hit my 2019 mile goal, hoping to break 1k miles this week.

My weight has hit a plateau, sitting at 205-206# for the past couple of weeks.

Had a decent June, but lost almost a week due to plantar fasciitis- happy to report have it under control now :)

@ 969 miles which is pretty darn close half through the year

Tiny Elvis is ahead of schedule for his 1000 mile goal, sitting at just over 500 miles

Half way through the year and I'm still tracking to meet my goal of 1095 Trail Miles. As of this morning I'm at:

Running Miles- 479
Hiking Miles- 115
Total Miles- 594
Total Elev. Gain- 69,764 Ft.

@mtwarden my dog is also just over 500 miles for the year at 514. I didn't set a goal for him but he goes with me most of the time so he'll probably hit close to 1,000 this year. Of course, being a dog running circles around me his mileage is actually probably higher than that but without a gps collar that's tough to track.

my July wasn't as stellar as I hoped, several quality longer mountain runs/hikes, but had a week that only saw 10 miles

131 miles for July and I'm sitting at 1100 miles for the year

I did hit the Wendler program a lot harder this month, getting two lifting sessions a week in; also did the Murph wod (1 mile run/100 pull-ups/200 pushups/300 air squats/1 mile run) in 52 minutes which I chalked up to a success

August will start out well as I have a 60 mile/two day fastpack into the Bob Marshall this weekend :)

July wasn't my best month but I'm still tracking to reach my goal. August might be rough with some vacation and work trips scheduled but we'll see how it plays out. I need to fit in more weighted pack hikes but I've been short on time lately and running is a faster workout.

Running Miles: 561
Hiking Miles: 119
Total Trail Miles: 680 of 1095 Goal
Total Elev. Gain: 78,360 ft.

another month down :) August was pretty decent (couple of nice trips thrown in), 178 miles

puts me at 1280 for the year, about 50 miles off the pace for 2000, but close enough for gov't work :)

I've also managed to keep a 8 week streak sticking with Wendler and seeing good gains across the board with deadlifts/squats/bench/overhead press; also did the Cindy wod managing 17 rounds

so far, so good

August was pretty rough for me as I was out of town a lot in places that didn't facilitate as much running as I'm used to. I'm getting back into the swing of things now and should still be able to reach my goal by years end.

Current stats:

Running Miles: 605
Hiking Miles: 140
Total Trail Miles: 745 of 1095 Goal
Tot. Elevation Gain: 85,617

Slacking on updates, things have been hectic lately. Goals from the beginning of the year in white, current completions in green, currently incomplete in red.

1500 miles ran 1,513 YTD
100K elevation gain 101,611 elevation (48,494 outside/53,117 treadmill)
A 50k Ultra finish Finished OPSF 50k in March in 7hr 39min
A 50 Mile Ultra finish DQ'd for time at Dances With Dirt Gnaw Bone 50m at mile 40 👎
A finish at this years Jackson County 50/50 in the 50 mile division Race isn't until Nov 30th
24lbs of weight loss, down to 185 Still floating between 190 and 195
And finally, 15 pullups in a set. No real improvement, haven't been working on this at all really 👎

All in all I'm good with where I'm at right now. Gotta double down on those last few pounds and my upper body strength, but I feel great about where my running is right now. Been doing more road running than I'd like, so I need to work on getting back to the trails.

Monthly Update- September was a decent month for me so I'm still on track. October should be a good one as I have a couple of hunts lined up starting this weekend.

Running Miles: 688
Hiking Miles: 149
Total Trail Miles: 837 of 1095 Goal
Total Elevation Gain: 96,000

258 Miles to go for the rest of the year to meet my goal. With the lunges, squats, and short weighted pack hikes I've been mixing in lately my legs and lungs are feeling strong and ready for my upcoming hunts. That's always my big motivation so I'm happy with where things are at right now.

^ good deal :)

my September was pretty decent- 136 miles, 60+ of those miles were with a 45 lb pack- which I'm sure will pay dividends at some point; almost all included some good climbs

still making progress with Wendler on deadlifts/squats/bench/overhead press; substituted in a couple of high volume workouts w/ the above lifts which kicked my arse but good

I'm off the pace to finish with 2000 miles, currently at 1414 miles- but if everything goes to plan, will still be a pretty good showing :)

October is in the books; 141 miles (amazingly a few of those miles were snowshoeing!) brining the total to 1555- probably a real long shot for 2000, but might get into the 1800-ish mile range

Surprisingly, I did less hiking than I thought I would in October but I'm still tracking to meet my goal and I did get a couple of those miles packing meat so life is good.

Hiking- 178
Total Trail Miles- 949 of 1095 goal
Total Elevation Gain- Just shy of 110,000 ft.

Took three weeks off of everything towards the end of Sept. to get ready for and bring home my wife and I's first child, Waylon, so I'm not too upset with taking time off 😁. Also ran the Tecumseh Challenge 50k at the end of October right when Tropical Storm Olga made her way into Indiana, so it rained constantly for the first 29 miles of the 31, lol. Good mental training in addition to the physical aspect. Finished that 50k in 7:25 and took third place in my age group (35-39).

Current stats against my Jan 1 goals:

1500 miles ran 1,743 YTD
100K elevation gain 116,693 ft elevation (63,576 outside/53,117 treadmill)
A 50k Ultra finish Finished OPSF 50k in March in 7hr 39min
A 50 Mile Ultra finish DQ'd for time at Dances With Dirt Gnaw Bone 50m at mile 40 👎
A finish at this years Jackson County 50/50 in the 50 mile division Race isn't until Nov 30th
24lbs of weight loss, down to 185 Still floating between 190 and 195
And finally, 15 pullups in a set. Started hitting this hard this month, but no real gain yet

Sticking with my training schedule I will definitley beat 2000 miles ran this year, which if you had told me 5 years ago I would run 2000 miles in a year I wouldve laughed in your face. Running has become such a huge part of not only my physical health, but my mental health and overall happiness too. I love my wife and son, and don't know what i would do without them, but those 1-3 hours alone give me so much time to think, unwind, and unpack the day/week/month.

Stick with it everyone!
