Witnessed 474 yard 1 shot kill and 2 others that were shorter (150 and 300 ish) last night, also rolled one and in the chaos of other dogs coming in lost it after it regained composure. We looked with our thermals for atleast 30 minutes and nothing.

Halo lr on top a 22 grendel did the trick

Got some work done with the chronograph tonight and still had some light left for hunting.

This male only gave me his head and neck to shoot at. 200 yards with the .260 into the neck. DRT.

Shot 5 more since I last posted while calving. I've been packing the custom 243 with a 4-16x Huskemaw shooting 58gr V max Superformance ammo at 3850fps. I have missed 2 when I tried low percentage shots and couldn't get steady enough, but I've hit all the ones I felt good about. Most have been 175 to 250 yards. I'm up to 10 on the year now, not nearly as good as normal for this time. We had record rains last year though and the big grass has made it easy for them to slip away unseen. Couple I stopped to get pics of Saturday. 84A154BD-BC19-46EC-AA51-789E03507EDF.jpegAACE8634-82FA-4766-AD13-4D69C91469AF.jpeg

Cows were all staring into a patch of grass a few minutes ago so I stopped and set up a bag of mineral as a rest. Three coyotes came out the far side at 275 yards and this one stopped. 243 got another.

Got an inch of rain this morning with a cold front coming tonight. When the sun came out so did the coyotes. 243 is staying deadly at 200 to 250 despite all the bouncing in the UTV. I leave the Huskemaw 4-16x on 6x unless I have time and a good enough rest to use more magnification. Working well that way.

Went out last night solo, had to get out and see what could be found, in all i seen around 10 dogs, called 3 in 2 stands, missed 1 that should have been a give me, and the other 2 wouldnt get closer that 450 and wouldn't stay put.

Seen onesy twosies aling through the night with only 1 for sure down and pretty sure another down, but couldn't find it in the tall grass.

Was clear out, 5 to 8mph wind, temps 28 to 38 at beginning of the night. Didnt see any with cows, but did rile some up with femal howls near some cows.

Hope to get out again maybe next weekend or this week and see what can be done

Got another one to stop in an open spot yesterday at 266 yards. The 243 dumped him too. Today I got 2 in the scope but neither stopped and both were past 200 yards by the time I got them in the glass. I passed both shots, I'll get a better crack at them I think if I'm patient.

First coyote with a rifle. Called her in with a Turkey call. Got my first one ever with a bow in Nov. Dialing in this gun for my first rifle deer season and feeling good out to 500 yrds.

Another victory for the rimfire at 280 yards. She stopped 20 yards below my 300 yard verification post and got hit in the right lung. Ruger M77 in .17WSM got this female who was nursing. Hopefully the den full of pups will die now as well.

Edit-Just noticed it's a 2020 kill count, I killed a handful of these in December of 19. 2020 count is 8 I belive.
I've killed several at night with a wicked hunting light off a dead cow. Kimber pro hunter 22-250 with a leupold VX5 3-15x44 shooting a 40 gr Berger varmint bullet at around 4000 fps. Coyotes are worth a pile of money this year!

Called in a quad and killed 3 one ran over the hill and the rancher snagged him up, said “price of admission” I laughed and thanked him for letting me hunt.

I like your camo on that rifle and tripod. It’s amazing how much it helps in certain situations trying to call them in. Those suckers vision is incredible.
