Hi all,

A friend and I (both from MN) are looking to do our first DIY Muley rifle hunt in 2020. I have been doing as much research as possible, but MAN there are so many options! Currently we have been looking at either Idaho or Wyoming. From what I have been able to read so far it looks like Idaho has quite a bit more flexibility with most of the units being open to general tags, but the population/deer quality might be better in WY? Also from what I have read it seems like hunting pressure might be higher in Wyoming, but if that is false please correct me. It seems like there is more initial research that needs to be done when applying in Wyoming (apply for your zone, then unit?). Trust me when I say that I have been combing these forums for quite some time, there is just so much information I keep working my way in circles.

This past fall I took my first hunt out west (CO Elk archery) and it was such an experience I haven't stopped thinking about making it back. We both currently have one point in WY, and by 2020 should have a second point from 2019, but I don't think this will really make a difference until we build up enough points to really try for a trophy unit.

Even if there is a similar thread that someone could point me towards that would be much appreciated.

Thank you,
