April was a good month, starting to catch up a bit.

For the year so far:
Running/hiking miles: 450
Elevation gain: 34,754

35 summits, at least one set of 50 push-ups and 10 pull-ups every day of the year so far. Met or exceeded 30 miles/week and strength training twice a week for the past 7 weeks. Feeling good!

May was a pretty good month overall. I'll likely be adding a lot more Mountain Biking miles as my son just joined the high school team and I'm riding with him a bit more. I hadn't planned on that and it may skew my miles for the year as I'll likely have way more biking miles than I originally thought I would. Either way, I have a busy summer coming up so it's probably a good thing to have the extra miles. Here's my report through the end of May:

Trail Running Miles: 512
Hiking Miles: 72
Mtn. Biking Miles: 50
Total Trail Miles: 634 of 1,500 Mile Goal
Total Elevation Gain: 95,274 of 225,000 Goal

Feeling good, though I could stand to eat better and lose a few pounds as lately I've let my diet slip a bit. I'll get that back on track soon and be ready for hunting season.

^ Nice!

I had a good May. A few scouting trips into the Bob Marshall and ended the month with a bang with the Bob Marshall Wilderness Open- 82 miles and 16,000' in three days, tough miles- lots of blowdown, lots of snow, lots of high streams to ford, but God willing I'll be back next May.

275 miles and 39,900' for the month of May which puts me at 803 miles and 166,600' of gain for the year- I'm on track :)

Mine is simple but seems lofty at the moment, id like to be able to do the iron cross on my gymnast rings. I can do muscle ups but they aren't the prettiest at the moment lol. Gonna be a slow burn as i dont wanna hurt myself. Otherwise im pretty happy with my fitness and diet, i just need to stay the course for the most part. Good luck ya'll!

You guys are beasts on the vertical, great work.
I’m soldiering away here. I’m at 562 miles running/hiking with around 45,000 vertical feet. Slightly behind the goal for mileage, slightly above for vertical. Still weight training 2x per week, push-ups and pull-ups every day of the year so far.

I thought we should get the ball rolling with a 2021 fitness goal thread as our fitness and nutrition goals are already beginning to filter through our minds. Post your goals here!

For 2021 my goals are:

Continue to limit chewing or kick the habit altogether.

Do not have an energy drink (bang, reign, redbull, etc) or soda in 2021. Both are currently a very bad addiction.

Incorporate morning walks and stretch session into routine even if I'm hiking that day.

Do at least one hour of strengthening workouts a day.

This is a "redemption" year for me. I was knocked out of work back in '18 with an then undiagnosed chronic GI condition from type 1 diabetes. I've bee trying to claw my way back until this past Christmas, an injury caused a reflate, and six months of progressive medical mess
That GI condition exacerbated ulcers that were flying under the doctor's radar. Almost croaked from a massive GI bleed in February we found out we ultimately from ulceration only after I had a literal blowout of the intestines Good Friday evening. Acid from the ulcers literally ate through in multiple spots and something finally just let go. Needed an extensive bowel resection and have a temporary ileostomy bag.

I've pushed hard to get out and build cardio capacity and lower body strength
I'm up from 106lbs post surgery to mid 130s and looking to keep pushing the distance and speed, and build up functional strength. Still not allowed to square heavy or deadlift heavy, I'm working around it. Ultimately, my goal is to be in legit mountain hunting shape. There will be a pause sometime in December (going to hold off on ileostomy reversal) until then so I can actually have most of deer season) but ultimately that'll be a few weeks and then back to business.

June was a great month for my mileage overall, but my running miles dipped and my hiking miles were almost non existent as I added a bunch of mountain biking to the mix riding with my son and his team where I could. It's been a lot of fun and I look forward to continuing it over the next few months but I need to figure out how to get some hiking miles added back in as well at some point. I just found out they cancelled the half marathon trail run I signed up for again, that's two years in a row... Oh well, I'll figure something else out. Regardless, I'm well on track to meet my goals, here's my report through June this year:

Trail Running Miles: 588
Hiking Miles: 72
Mountain Biking Miles: 134
Total Trail Miles: 794 of 1,500 goal for the year
Total Elevation Gain: 117,900 of 225,000 goal for the year

June was decent for me, 124 trail miles and 29,100’ of gain to bring totals to 927 miles and 195,700’ of gain. I’m on a little ahead for 1700 miles and well ahead on elevation for 250,000’.

I’ll be starting out July with a bang, doing a 3 day, 60+ mile trip with a ton of climbing.

Great thread and some awesome posts and goals. I’m definitely going to be stealing some of them and start tracking miles.

I tore my bicep tendon in January on a hunt and had to have it surgically reattached. Since then I haven’t done anything, no running (the impact to hurt the injury repair) no pushing, nothing. I just got the go ahead and started yesterday with a ruck. Back at the gym today.

Goals...

Sub 16 min 2 miles by November.

Drop 15lbs I put on during my recovery.

Really working on my endurance all around. My strength numbers usually rebound on their own so getting my wind back is the key.

Work on my flexibility / do yoga.

Maintain 1 + gallons of water a day.

Incorporate more veggies into my meals.

Sleep more at night, working 12s this is hard to do.

Focus more on how I feel & perform than numbers.

Thanks, I ordered one up. I couldn't bring myself to buy an apple watch because I knew I'd destroy it and I don't like the look. Thanks for the help.

Well July was a pretty good month for mileage 171 miles- despite the heat and smoke; which brings me to 1108 miles for the year. But it was a great month for elevation gain 41,100' which brings me to 236,800' for the year- just shy of my 250,000' goal which I should hit in August (God willing). My strength training effort was fair, didn't get twice a week every week like I wanted, but did a few weeks.

Few highlights and a pic of my new watch :)

Great work, that elevation gain is wild.

I’m at 770 miles running/hiking for the year, 70,200 feet elevation gain, 60 summits, steady with the strength training and averaging 55 push-ups and 12 pull-ups a day. And no injuries!

All goals on track except mileage, I’ll probably come up a bit short but that is ok.
