After years of watching and dreaming of posting on this thread, I finally got my Montana archery bull on 9/19.
Serious question- how big do the points have to be to count them? Ha. I'm calling it a 7x6 because I think I can. 40-yard shot quartering shot, and he didn't make it 150 yards. I was lucky to have my dad and friends help pack this big-bodied boy out. Congratulations to the other posters. Looks like a lot of great bulls and good shots so far this year.

Got into a pocket with 4 bulls that were talking aggressively. I called in bull #1 to my buddy for a 30 yard shot. I heard a big sounding bull bulging about 80-100 yards away after he shot. There were no sticks by me on the ground, and I didn’t want to move. I rubbed my boot on a tree trunk to sound like a bull raking a tree, while doing cow calls. He came unglued, walked right by my buddy that just shot a bull and gave me a 30 yard shot.

2 bulls down shortly after first light.

We made it about 400 yard from where we marked him on ONX and we saw a little river bead so we walked dow to see if we could see anything and there he was standing at 350yds broad looking at us but the problem was We was literly 300yds strait up a super steep hill so my brother put his pack down I put the gun on it it didnt even get me looking half way up to him so I started digging with my elbo in the dirt for the stock and my brother got to big rock to lay the pack, on I got him and my brother said ''11 inches high'' so I put the cross ares on him said a quick prayer in my head amed a little above his back and BOOOOMMM!!!!(no ear plugs) then I hear ''you got him Put a nother in'' then BOOOOMMM!!!! ''HE'S DOWN'' I did'nt relize it yet but my nose was bleeding becuase I got scoped twice so I stood up and I was Shaking like a leaf in a hurracain!!!

This a wonderfully wholesome story! Congrats to the whole gang. I pray my boys have a similar relationship when they get older.

My son was able to draw his last youth cow elk tag this year and was able to connect 3 days ago.
I called several cows for him but this one did not have a calf to the side.
Pretty proud of him since it’s been 2 years in a row.
Next year he gets to hunt with the rest of us……..

This is all I ended up with. Last day of the season. Day 20 in the field for me. Perfect low stress shot at 30 yards, perfectly broadside connecting right behind the shoulder. Watched her walk away with blood pouring out the opposite side coating her entire front leg. Arrow was covered in bright red lung blood. Blood trail started out great, this puddle was found where she was bedded 200 yards from the shot. Bumped her an hour after the shot. Shortly after that the sky opened all holy hell with a layer of hail covering the ground and then downpour for over 30 minutes. Spent two full days looking for her with no luck. The first animal I have ever lost and it sucks. Regardless of what people claim, don't use a mechanical on elk. I'm tossing them all in the trash.
