Ks was good again! My first bird was super heavy with great spurs and beard. Later that day took my buddy the landowner out and he killed a awesome triple beard. My second, 3 hours west, only had 2 or 3 fan feathers, I think the Jake's he was avoiding probably had been kicking his ass

I went on my first turkey hunt with two friends who were also turkey hunting virgins last weekend in South Dakota. After two days of hunting in 32mph and 23mph winds and some snow, the group was feeling defeated. We had seen nothing and heard little. On our third day, the wind finally gave us a break and the sun was shining. The turkeys were out in full force and we had no trouble locating a large group that morning. After 30 minutes of talking back and forth we realized the group we found was happy where they were at and had hens already with them. We made a sneak in the opposite direction around a tree patch and spotted them from 200yards. We saw three toms break off from the group to chase two hens up the draw and over the hill. Once out of sight we began our stalk. We chased them this way for an hour, careful not to be seen as we closed the distance between us. Finally, we were able to sneak over a peak right on them. It couldn't have been more perfect as we each shot one of the three and all our tags were suddenly filled.

I shot this bird on 4/13 here in Tn. It was a battle but I edged away with a victory. He was hung up at 55 yards. I dropped him with a 3.5 #6 2 1/8oz Long Beard XR and my SX4. The best part is my wife was with me and it was her first time in the turkey woods. I've never seen an eastern gobbler with such white tips.

I took my oldest out to try and get him another bird Saturday, but the toms were henned up pretty tight and we couldn't get anything to play ball.

I took my youngest with me last night and we had a crazy night. Two jakes in the decoys within the first 15 minutes of calling, fighting the DSD jake and trying to breed the DSD upright hen (the stake got a little bent, but held up!). Then we added two hens to the mix, getting one fired up and strutting up to the hen decoy. Two big toms finally came in, but as I was getting my 6 year old moved for a better view one of the jakes went and thumped the lead tom pretty hard, running them both off!

So now with 2 jakes and two hens still in the decoys, and two nice toms about 200 yards out, strutting and scared to come closer, I hear more gobbling coming from behind us. I keep working them, and in comes a group of 5 jakes! They get to fighting the 2 already in the decoys, and really making a racket and fighting all over in front of us. After a few minutes of that I decided to try and spook them off to make a play at the bigger toms. It took 2-3 minutes of me yelling and waving hands out the blind window to push them off, and sure enough they head out and start chasing the toms around again!

Luckily one of the toms saw his opportunity and started our way, and within a couple minutes he strutted right up to the decoys as the others chased each other around in the background. All in all, we had turkeys in the decoys for 2 1/2 hours straight, gobbling, drumming, fighting, and helping draw more turkeys in. The 6 year old thought it was the best hunt he'd ever been on, so mission accomplished!

Arrowed this central KS gobbler last week! Couldn't get enough of the colors on this thing! 1st of 4 tags to fill between fiancé and I. We are heading back to the field this evening if the weather cooperates.

Daughter got her first on opening day in michigan came in silent with a hen and attacked the decoy he kicked it around about 10ft and was standing on top of the decoy when she shot him. Tried to get it on video must of double tapped the record button. Definitely will not forget the high pitch squealing coming out of her lol. Heavy bird 24lbResized_20220423_142513.jpeg

I am so grateful to have been able to harvest 3 in 3 days here in WA. Made a 62 yard shot on the second, my PR for turkey. Great season!
