Side note: Wish I picked up the LSWild Suppressor Cover before this hunt. That cheapo I had was flopping all over the place
eh on a hunt maybe not so important? on the range, once it heats up that mirage messes with what you can see through the optic. Why does one need a suppressor cover?
congrats and thank you for the moose and caribou population.I haven't seen a thread yet. There must be a few that have hit the ground by now.
I got one with my 45-70 a couple weeks ago and know of 2 others to take dirt naps.
Glad you found her. Way to stick with it and not give up. Looks like a beautiful hide on her!Tried some new country that I had been wanting to see in Eastern Oregon. Starting point was based on a tip from a buddy that saw some bears during deer season. Got there mid day Saturday and took the quad for a rip after setting up camp. Realized I was too high up, green up hadn't really happened yet. Went lower and was hiking along some rimrock looking down into a canyon just before dark. Low and behold there is a bear standing in the middle of a green spot, 212 yards but steep downhill. I got my rifle set up on a bipod and used my pack and game bags as a rear bag. It's been awhile since I have shot a bear and had heard to shoot bears a little farther back than deer, middle of middle they say. I aimed for middle middle and touched off my 7mm rem. The bear took off into the brush. Worked my way down there through some helacious brush and get there at 8:30. No blood or obvious tracks so I wander around for 45 minutes but cant find it and am really not liking searching the brush with a head lamp. Seems like I missed but no way I missed that shot unless the gun was off. Check my zero in camp the next morning and it's on so I head back down there. I notice a couple vulchers circling, good sign. After another hour I finally find it, buried in the brush about 80 - 100 yards from the shot, looking at my tracks I had walked within 10 yards of it the night before. The meat smelled fine and the coat was perfect, i would guess 175# sow. Next time I shoot a bear I will try to break it down, none of this middle middle stuff.
