22 hunting scope

Im wanting something like a ffp bdc reticle with holdover marks out to 150 yards,light weight and a short tube,best glass i can afford. I don't need precisely repeatable turrets. Somthing i zero, make a holdover card for the bdc marks in the scope and ruggedness.
Usa made is a plus,would like to stay under 500 but that’s negotiable.
Putting this on a tikka t1x 16 inch 22 that will be primarily a all around camp and squirrel hunting gun.

You could run just one of the diamondbacks from vortex and their little holdover reticle. If I remember correctly, each one is 2.5 MOA and there are 5. If you sighted in at 50 yds, you would probably not be able to get out to 200 yds. This means that you have 15 MOA in reticle which is the hold for 160 yds with Lapua Midas plus ammo (subsonic). With supersonic Augulia ammo you would be able to get to 190 with the reticle.

If you are planning to shoot much past 100 yards I dont think I would be happy with just holdovers. realistic 22 targets (i.e. a squirrels head, etc) are small enough that I cant personally be as consistently accurate as id like with .5mil hashmarks at 150-200 yards. My rec would be to get an athlon midas tac 4-16 or similar—you can find for 500 if you look around. Failing that, a vortex diamondback tactical 4-16. both of those will give you the option to dial as well. i would avoid 2nd focal plane scopes if you plan to use holdovers much, squirrels are too jumpy for me to stay at max magnification sometimes even at ranges where youre holding 1-2 mills over the target.
Fwiw i have a viper pst g2 5-25 on my 22. Its perfect for nrl22 type games, and super fun to hunt squirrels and plink with, but if it was a dedicated hunting and plinking gun I would greatly prefer a 3-15 or 4-16 or similar.
Edit: also, on my gun 200 yards takes me over 8 mils or 28moa with a 50 yard zero. Im using pretty slow ammo but even so Im not sure Id want to deal with that kind of a holdover as my only option.

I use a red dot on my Tikka T1x out to 100 yards…… It’s crazy accurate!!!

it’s zeroed for a six o’clock hold at 50 yards

with the 3 MOA dot, I use the bottom of the dot at 100 yards

The Athlon midas tac 4-16 is the best i have seen so far.

Swfa 2.5 to 10 would fit the bill. I agree about hold overs past 125 ish there's to much drop to use a reticle with rodent precision

I have a T1x set up with SWFA 6x. As long as the wind isn't blowing prairie dogs at 200-220 aren't too difficult, plenty of magnification
