Re 223 mags. You have a few options. Factory max out at around 2.3”

Mountain tactical if you can still find them have worked well for me, finicky for others. They fit 4 rounds and 2.6” length

Waters rifleman out of Australia have been good as well. But only extended lengths are available. 2.4 or 2.6”, Iv got two 2.6”. My mags required a little polishing of the mag latch but they seat solid as a rock.

Below left to right, waters 10 round, waters 6 round, MT 4 round, factory 4 round.

Can you provide a link? Would love to buy some...I see only .308 and 30-06 based cartridge magazines
Check midway and Midwest gun works. If that’s a no go the only options are go aics, or waters rifleman which are both pricy

Never mind, pretty much just waters for an option, If hou want to see more let me know

If you want to inlet your stock for AICS bottom metal, the MDT poly mags will let you load up to just over 2.50" coal. They can be modified to go longer. I think I have paid $30 for the MDT mags. I have three German Gun stocks that are inlet for CTR bottom metal and I use the Mountain Tactical CTR/AICS bottom metal. Atlasworxs has CTR/AICS and the custom inlet AICS bottom metal that is cheaper than the Mountain Tactical.

Below is a GGS Reaper with my varmint in it using MT CTR/AICS bottom metal with MDT poly mags. I also run my 18" CTR in it with the factory CTR bottom metal.20200301_183732.jpg20210116_133030.jpg

I'll add that you can usually pick up a CTR bottom metal for pretty cheap and run the 223 CTR magazines. They're pricy but they work. The MDT polymer mags will fit in the CTR inlet as well with some sanding

Anyone using CFE223, H335, or H4895 with the 69 TGK or the 77 TGK. I don't have any 8208 anymore. I want to load both at AR mag length for my 18" and 10.5" AR rifle and pistol.

Well I have finally made it through all 71 pages!
Thanks to all the contributors for the great info and pictures!
I was never against using the 223 for deer and have understood for a while now how bullet selection is key. This looks like one heck of a combo!
I recently purchased a Ruger Ranch and managed to find some 77gr TMK’s. Currently searching high and low for some XBR in Canada.

For those looking for mags I found a guy in Canada that is 3d printing stock 223 mags that supposedly allows 2.5" Oal. They are $35 plus tax. Mag3d.ca is the website. I haven't ordered any yet to try. Just an FYI.

So I pretty much read thru all of this. How cool ! I just picked up a ruger predator 223 and bought the 73 eldm. Will the 73 eldm do just fine for Oklahoma whitetails? I would have bought the 77s if I would have saw this first lol. Cant return the 73s tho, already opened them. Please let me know!

For those looking for Mountain Tactical 223 mags, I seem to remember reading that they are coming out with an updated 223 version this year so may be why the older gen has been pulled from the site.

Yes. I was having feeding issues with mine, called and they said send it back and they'd send a new one. They were originally going to be out this month (from what I understood at least) but sounds like they'll be a few weeks late now which is a bummer because I already sent my mag back...

They always return my phone calls and e-mail though so one way or another I'm sure I'll get taken care of.

I guess I need to sell my .223 , it’s a older 1:12 twist , and after reading this thread , it sounds like it’s unacceptable for + 55gr bullets ?
I guess it’s gotta stay barns ttsx under 100yards
Could always rebarrel, if slinging heavies is your goal. The 1-12 certainly will not be up to spinning them. What is the action?

55 grain gold dots would be my preference, but there are a variety of effective deer killing bullets that should work with your 1-12 twist. They won't have as attractive BC's but they will get the job done.
