Picked up a box of these the other day, never giving twist rate a thought as all of our 243s shoot 100 grn bullets.

I am reading that these should have 1:8. One rifle is 1:9.25, and the others specs say 1:10. Am I wasting time even playing with these?

I have never had luck shooting a bullet in a slower twist barrel than what it was designed for. Every time I have tried they keyhole (those would be 100 grain 25 cal Barnes TTSX in a Savage 99, and CEB 140 grain MTH in a 260 AI that was supposed to have the proper twist, but apparently does not.) Keyholing is pretty obvious. I'd only load a few - no more than 5 - and see. It won't take more than that to determine if there is a problem.

How long is your barrel bud?

If you have a rough idea of speed you can get it plugged into a stability calculator pretty easy.

Shoot them at varying distances for sure if you do test, the 170 Berger shot perfect in my 1:10 twist 270win out to 200 yards but then just tumbled at distances past that.

Probably wont mess with them at this point, just don't get enough range time to play with stuff anymore. Just looked like an interesting bullet to try out.
