Just got an Knight Ultralight Muzzleloader and looking for a bullet to shoot sub 250 yards for Elk in WA. I've shot 300 Gr Bloodlines accurately out to 200 yards but it seems they lose a lot of energy at that range (compared to Higher BC bullets).

Looking for recommendations (Or experience with Bloodlines out to 200-250 Yards) for higher BC bullets such as Parker, Dead Center, Etc.

Thanks!

You might take a look at this bullet from Lehigh Defense. The bullet on the left is a .452x265CF-HP. You probably already know about the Terminal performance of the Lehigh bullets.

I have shot this bullet quite a bit and it certainly has the accuracy to go to 250 yards and beyond. Energy as you mention is the biggest factor and with the Lehigh velocity is an important consideration.

I have shot it through a chrono and from that produced a ballistic sheet. I only ran the calculations to 225 yards, but I think you can visualize that @ 250 yards the bullet would have both the velocity and energy to work.

Another thing just to throw this out there - the Lehigh/Bloodline .458x300 is really something to consider.

Also.... I have not shot these bullets at game with a range of 250 yards.

I have used the hornday 250 gr sst on mule deer out to 240 yards and they have work flawless on the deer. I am going to use arrowheads 300 gr x series on my muzzy tag this year.

If you consider the Parker bullets, I'd suggest the 300gr Black Max. There has been extensive testing with this bullet, which is similar to the Match Hunter for both ballistics and has exceptional equal accuracy to longer ranges. However the bullet expands considerably easier than the Match Hunter and is better suited for production rifle charges.

Thanks for the reply everyone. I’ve been trying some Knight black tip 275 and 300 (which I believe are rebranded Parker Ballistic Extreme). They shoot great so far.

Forgot to add. That group was from 275 and 100 Gr (volume) of BH209. Going right around 1820 FPS
