I have a Weatherby Vanguard in .25-06, it has the standard 1-10 twist. Currently I’m shooting Barnes 100 grain TTSX with great accuracy (group sizes averaging 0.5 inches) and decent speed (3,269 average FPS). However Hammer Bullets peaked my interest so I ordered one of the 15 packs to try out. I wanted to stay close to the 100 grain weight so I ordered the 103 grain Hammer Hunters. At the time I didn’t realize that a slightly tighter twist was recommended. Next time I’ll pay more attention and order the 90 grain Absolute Hammers.
At any rate, I do want to mess around with the 15 I ordered, and have three powders in my stockpile to choose from, RL22, RL19, and IMR4831. The RL22 at 55.5 grains has been my go to for the TTSX so I thought about using it. But I wondered if anyone here has any personal knowledge of the three powders I have on hand and their use with the 103 grain .257 Hammer bullets out of a .25-06. I’m interested in what you have to say. Thanks.

No help on the 103, my 257 weatherby loves the 121 grain. Shoots .23 groups at 100 yards.

I am loading 75 grain of N570.

NV Hunter, what is the twist of your rifle? If it’s a 1-10 it sounds like you don’t have any issues with stabilizing the long 121 grain Hammer.

Did you check the Hammer forum? That is the best place to find reloading data for their bullets.

I did but couldn’t find an answer to my question. Which brings up another question…why don’t I ask them??? Because I was too lazy to join the forum.

Another good source of Hammer reload data. It's an Excel spreadsheet and is sorted by caliber, so very easy to use. There is also an Absolute Hammer spreadsheet.
