I’m starting to look for a 260 Rem for my boys. I’d prefer a model 700 but I’m open. Nothing heavy and not looking to spend custom rifle prices on this one. Thanks!

Depending on their age you may want to look into a compact Tikka. That’s what I ended up doing for my boy. He killed his first deer with it right after turning 7 a month ago. Plus side is I picked up a Hunter full size stock for it as well so he’s got a lifetime rifle

I found a Ruger Hawkeye compact in 260 Rem last year on Armslist for my boy. Sweet little shooter, took his first bull elk with it this year.
There’s a clean Rem model 7 in 260 on armslist right now in southern Oregon. Not sure if they’ll ship.
Why not a 6.5CM? More rifles and ammo available.

Thanks guys, I may have a Steyr coming up as an option too. I handload and like the 260 over the 6.5cm. I’m not a hater but I don’t get the fuss over it.

Go buy them T3X Superlights which comes chambered in .260. At sportsman’s warehouse they are $749 brand new and shoot lights out and weigh nothing.

Then they can build on the platform later if they choose. Lots of fun aftermarket support for that rifle.

Thanks, I’m definitely open to a Tikka. I’ve only fired one of the tactical models and it was a great shooter. How is the recoil with them? Also, I cannot find any in stock in 260 (other than CTR).
