I just purchased a Weatherby RC Outfitter in 270 Wby Mag. It shoots 140 grain Nosler Accubonds and 130 grain Barnes TTSX into 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards. My question is which is the better bullet for Mule deer out to 450 - 500 yards. Any advise would be appreciated.

My preference is the all copper bullets, but either one will work though.

Either will work just fine. Ttsx loses expansion velocity around 450+\-
I prefer the reliable expansion and would stick with the accubond.

I too would go with the Accubond, but, the TTSX should keep 2000+ fps well past 450, probably closer to 650-700. Remember, they start at ~3400.

I've found the ttsx to be dependable around 2600. Barnes claims of 2k in my limited experience is either under ideal lab conditions or might be slightly inflated. I caught a 140 ttsx in a black bear out of my 270 bee at 550 yrds
Quartering shot missed the front left shoulder went through the sternum and landed on his left hip. Granted--It resulted in a very dead bear, but the bullet showed no signs of expansion other than shedding the tip
I'll try and dig up the pic.

If the op reloads the 129 lrx is a laser out of the bee.

100yrds same shot on an elk both dug out of the far side hide
150 Partition right
140 Accubond left
It was my last Partition and I prefer them over the accubond but didn't have a second one (ammo shortage and what not)

Been shooting a 270 wby since 1989, and it has accounted for its’ fair share of animals. All of them have hit the dirt using a 150 partition. Haven’t Seen the need to change from an accuracy or performance perspective. Don’t fix was isn’t broken.
