Getting ready to kick the dust off my Ruger #1 80s vintage and bring it into the 21st century a little.
Upgrading the fixed 4 Leupold to a V4
I've always shot the blunt nose 150 corlokt about 1.5 inch.

Id like to not debate the eldx my research has found it acceptable to me.
But I will consider other bullets if it won't shoot these. Most likely the Scirocco 2

I'll be using 1 fired Remington brass.

And expect 50-54 grains of H4350 will get me there.
I am not chasing speed. Id just like a consistent sub moa load.
But im ears on what has been working for you.

My savage 110 likes the 145 eldx with 57.8 grains of h4831. I use hornady brass, push shoulders back 2 thou, bullet seated 5 thou from. the lands. It's a .5 MOA load for me.

Try H4831sc or some RL26 if you want some extra speed.
If the ELDX won't shoot in your rifle, you can try the Berger 140 classic hunters.

Haha
Based on a little research I thought 4831sc would come up.
But idk where I'm gonna get any.

I'm not really in a hurry. I have h1000 on hand too.

I have used RL-23 for a 3/4 moa type groups out of a howa 270 24" 2985-3000fps. I don't have exact load details with me currently.

when I start cooking up a load I pick the bullet and tried and true powder and start at 75% of powder book max and move up in .5gr increments until I find one the rifle likes. sometimes down but in the case of the eldx and other high bc bullets if I have to push them slower to make them work what is the point? so pick a bullet powder and experiment. What works in my rifle may not work in yours.

Also depending on who you ask the #1’s can either shoot awesome or be a mess. Has to do with the way the forearm is attached to the action and the free floating barrel. My 1b in 6mm rem does ok. But I haven’t dialed in the round like I want to.

I've used Reloder 22 and 26 in a Kimber .270 win with 140 accubonds and don't see why those powders wouldn't work with the 145 ELD-X. Settled on R26, such a bump in performance over the standard 270 powders. I looked at the Hornady factory 270 ammo with that 145 ELDX. Advertised 2970 muzzle velocity, that's a fairly stout factory load and just may be worth trying if your not going to volume shoot that No. 1.

My #1 has always shot core lokt to around 1.25
I don't expect anything fantastic out of it.
Hope to get 1" or better.
But consistently hitting and 8" plate at 500 is what I'm looking for.

Got an Egw rail, zeiss v4 4-16x44 and zeiss rings.

Reloader 17,19, h4831sc and imr 7977 would be some good places to start. I hear rl26 is like rocket fuel for a 270 Winchester but I have no first hand experience with it.

Well I tried 55-57.5 of h4831 .10 off the lands in .5 inc and best group was 1.5
That's not any better then the round nose core lokt.
So I ordered some berger 130 classic hunters to try. Maybe the 10 twist doesn't like 150s

Before you ditch the eldx try imr 4350. I tried to 26 but couldn’t get them to group to my liking. I also worked up an excellent load with rl 16 and 140 Sierra game changer. Best wishes on those bergers!

I say hello to everybody, as this is my first contribution to the Forum.

My preferred load with 145 ELD-X bullets in my .270WCF is a very slightly compressed load of 7977 that produces 2,980 fps out of my 24" Blaser K95.

I use Norma cases, BR2 primers, and seat them out to a 0.02" jump.

They deliver 0.7" or smaller, four shot groups at 110 yds (100 meters), and do it consistently.

Busy as I am with other guns I have not shot anything with them other than paper. I have some experience with 143gr 6.5mm ELD-X and I would expect similar performance, though.

Regards from Spain.

Well the Berger 130 Classic hunters look like they will work out.
56.5 grains looks great and is all the more I was hoping for.
57 opened up and 57.5 started coming back together.
No pressure signs so I'm gonna try 58 as well to see if thats the high node.
If not 56.5 it will be. Then crono and start stretching out.
