.277 cal 110 Accubonds

Does anyone have any real world experience with this bullet In a 270 win?
Just wondering if it would be s good choice for young shooters. Thanks

Not a 270Win but shot from a 6.8 spc at about 2600fps, performed well on 2 Arkansas whitetails.

If folks are successfully using .224 77gr TMK's on big game, then I wouldn't hesitate using 110gr Accubonds. I have a couple boxes if you're interested.

Not the Noslers, but a lot of experience with the Barnes 110 TTSX in 270 Win. It has been a go to for young hunters. Never recovered one from an Elk or deer. They don't have a massive wound channel, but on chest shots in Elk will leave a 1.5" exit.

The farthest was a bull my son shot at 540ish yards. Clipped the top of the heart. The bull wobbled a few seconds and tipped over.

With IMR 4350 you can top 3300 fps, and with Staball 6.5 close to 3400 fps. Recoil pretty tame.

My daughter likes my Remington 700 Ti in 270 Win so I just loaded some 100 gr Accubonds with a reduced charge of H4895. We will see how they do this weekend.

I think they would need to be slowed way down. In my 6.8spc they have been fairly explosive at 80 yards. Out at 210 yards it held together a lot better. That’s based on the wt I’ve killed at least. The bullets worked fantastic, but I would not plan on running these at full velocity potential in a 270.

I’d load them down if the intent is for a lighter recoiling load for a young shooter. I load 110gr ttsx over a max load of 4350 and the recoil is similar/same as with heavier bullets. Speed is impressive though at 3350fps.

I got about 3050 fps with 45 grains of H4895 behind the 100 gr Accubond in a 22” barrel. I think I will drop a grain or two to try to get somewhere around 2900-2950. I don’t anticipate that my daughter will be shooting beyond 250 yards with this rifle and most hunting shots will be under 100 yards. I want to limit explosiveness at closer ranges.

I am guessing the low shot is me. I sometimes (often) struggle with this 6 pound, 6 ounce rifle.

That's actually a pretty good group for a 6 lb 6 oz rifle. It can't shoot without you so that's the group. I bet that little demon heats up quick!

It does heat up fast but I let it sit for a few minutes between shots when I am at the range.

I would recommend trying Ramshot Hunter powder. This will sound crazy buy I have had the 110g Barnes TTSX up over 3500 fps. I found a nice accuracy node down around 3420 and figured that was plenty fast and would be easier on my brass. I have take two Idaho Whitetail with that 110g Barnes TTSX and the terminal performance was devastating on both. Love that bullet.

A few years ago I was loading some 85gr TSX's in my .270 at just under 4000 fps with Ramshot Big Game. Very low recoil, but haven't shot anything breathing with those yet. Fun to shoot though. I load for my 6.8 SPC's, so I have a lot of lighter weight projectiles to play around with.
