$2k budget for 280 AI build?

Pretty accuarte but $500 is a little low on the action. You would always want to figure in some gunsmithing time as well.

It is but I’ve seen used Tikkas for $500. I was pricing for a pre fit barrel and doing the work himself.

I ordered a Weatherby Custom Shop Mark V in .280 AI for under 2k with a polymer stock. The Carbon Fiber stock pushes it over 2.5k. I figure if I like the rifle I may upgrade to the carbon fiber in a year or two.

moa or a little better in a good factory rifle yes.custom for 2 grand with the work necessary to shoot under1/2 moa.thats asking a awful lot.i dont think so.
