300 PRC build input needed

FNG here. Just built my first Remage build and looking to do another. I picked up a early 2000’s Remington 700 7mm rem mag barreled action. I’m looking at building a 300 PRC. This will be a long range hunting rifle. 500 plus yards on Aoudad. Thinking a 28” barrel in a 1:9 twist reloading heavies would work great. Any input or suggestions? This setup will probably have a H&S bedded stock.

How heavy are you wanting to shoot? I'm building a 20" 300prc and I'm going to be shooting Berger 215 hybrids. I should be able to get 2850fps which is plenty for much further than 500 yards.

Im thinking 220 smk around 2900 fps

I think 28” is unnecessary. 24” is plenty. Base your build off ballistics and intended use.

Agreed that 28" is not needed for what is wanted to be accomplished

You need to make sure that your action has a large enough magazine cut to feed 300prc. They are substantially longer than 7RM.
