Got the brass in today. Loaded up some 220 ELDX with 89 grains of Retumbo. Set up COAL to 3.841 for initial five rounds through the rifle. First two rounds were to get the bullets on paper. Next three rounds were to see how she grouped. First three shots were at or just below an inch.
Went back to the shop and loaded up three more rounds with same charge just adjusting depth. Set these at 3.865. Problem! Just because you have a Wyatt’s 4” Mag box doesn’t mean your chamber is 4”. Haha
I adjusted the COAL down to 3.825 and shot a .75” group at 100 yards.
This was promising as these were the first rounds down the barrel.
The Ross Schuler brake made this rifle into a pussy cat.

That’s what I’m thinking elkguide. I have some 200 grain Accubonds to try also. I’m going to pick up some Berger 215 & 230 shortly.
I’m going to shoot 200 and 400 yards this week too.
I really didn’t know what to expect recoil wise until I shot it today. That Ross Schuler brake tamed the recoil way down.

I haven't had great success in the accuracy department with Accubonds. For me the Partitions were just as accurate and they aren't known for great accuracy. My go to bullets in a .300 RUM have been Berger. The 175, 210 and 215 grain bullets have all lead to 1/2 MOA groups.

What powder are you using ? I have excellent luck with IMR 7828 90 grain, from 165 to 180 grain nosler .

When I get back from my crappie fishing trip I’m going to get some 215 Bergers loaded up.
I’m going to shoot some Accubonds this week and will post results.

Both of my 300 RUM's like Barnes 200 LRX's over 92.2 gr Retumbo @ 3170fps, 0.050" off the lands, 28" LW barrel. The heavier of the two rifles will put 3 into 5/8" at 200 but the lighter (9lbs) one will only hold 1" at 200. Either way, within 1000y, that's plenty. Now that Retumbo is gone, I'm having good results with 212 ELD'X's over 89-90gr RE26, but getting slower velocities and larger SD and ES. Please share your Berger and Accubond results when you get a chance

Update
Yesterday I went out to my range and shot some new loads. 200 grain Accubond with 94 grains of Retumbo. Two in one hole and the third just off the hole. Really happy with this load. Went to my shop and loaded another handful.
Got the rifle dead zeroed. Shot my 200 yard steel target. Went down to the steel target and found the 200 Accubond blows holes right through the steel.
I had replaced the factory butt pad with a Limbsaver pad and really tickled with this rifle.
I’m glad the Accubonds shoot good as I hunt grizzly country.
I’m still going to work up a 215 Berger load.
I’m going to get out and stretch her out in the near future.
Stay tuned...
