I see a ton of guys on here shooting a 300 or 250 spine shafts and I’m wondering if I should move to 300s with my new bow. It’s a Mathews vxr 70 pound with 27.5” draw and 28” arrows. I was going to run black eagle rampage with 50 grain brass hit inserts and 25 grain collars with 100 grain heads

I bet 350 would work fine. I build my arrows geared toward total weight and if that means being a little stiff/light depending on goal so be it as long as they tune. Which I haven’t had one not tune well enough for my liking. Other factors to consider is fixed vs mechanical or FP just for practice etc (the purpose of the arrow).

If you’re going to load up the front like that then go with the 300s. They’ll spine out better than a 350

I agree with him. You “may” be ok with 350s but will definitely be ok with 300s.

I’m currently shooting 340 kinetic koas with 20grain fact weights up front so 65 grains up front. My goal was a slightly lighter overall arrow with more foc which I can accomplish with either the 300 or 350.

350's might work.

300's will definitely work.

If your really trying to push your foc up and you could buy 3 to try you could start with with the 350's. If it were me I would just go the route of the 300's.

I’m running an Elite Tempo at 55#, 28.5” draw. I chose to build on 300’s for gpi with a total weight of 425-450 as the goal. Tuned great at shoots as well as I can with 100gr fixed heads and Blazers on the back for 12% FOC.
I couldn’t see running a 70# fairly fast bow with more weight running less spine.
As it’s been said, you “may” be ok at 350 but why not be sure to be ok at 300.

I don’t know about most of you guys, but if I can’t get a arrow to paper tune thru paper, I don’t use it.

Do I increase spine ? Yep. But when I do, I weaken the spine a bit by lengthening the shaft. When you get the right combo and it papers, I’m happy.

I’m shooting Easton ACC 3-71 on 70 pounds cut @ 28.5 inches, 175 grain head.Stiff, but deadly.

Also FMJ 340’s cut 28.5 with 50 grain less broadhead. Stiff but also deadly.

I set my bow up with a carbon express red 250 that comes out to 358 grains. That’s my deer set up. The others for pigs.

I am going up 5 lb. of draw weight and will be trying 300s, I have plenty of 350 gr. If those don’t work.
