So I’m deciding on hunting bullet for my new 300 wsm build. Tikka action so I can load them long, 1-10 twist bartlein 3b. Game will be mostly whitetail/mule deer let’s say 600 yards and in. Maybe an elk hunt someday. Choosing between Berger 200.20x and 205 gr elite hunter. Looks like the 200.20x is a shortened version of the 215 hybrid which I’ve read so much about for its effectiveness on elk one shot kills. I’m leaning towards that bullet over the 205 elite hunter. Anyone with a strong recommendation either way?

I've never used either. But I feel like the 300 wsm and the 200.20x are like PB&J.

My 300wsm chamber was cut for 215s. It seems to like 45k off lands the best with 200.20x. In my jump test it shot 3/4 inch 3 shot group at 300y, zero powder tuning, just 64gr rl23 @ 2790fps. 35k off shot well too, just over an inch. I'll be doing a powder charge evaluation in the next few days. I had done a psi test prior this last summer with this bullet and rl23/rl26. But got sidelined with other projects.

First post for me but I wanted to share some info. I did some testing with the Berger 200.20x. The test was conducted using my Alamo 300 wsm with a 24” proof barrel. The load is 70.7g of RL26 with a ave muzzle velocity of 2986fps, ES of 13. The test was with homemade ballistic gel made with Knox powder mixed at 10%. Front of block was covered with thin piece of rawhide. Block was shot at 250 yards with impact velocity of 2627fps. Results were 17” of overall penetration. Initial expansion at 2.5”, large wound cavity from 2.5” to 12.5”. Bullet had a retained weight of 90.1g. I know that this might not be the most scientific test but it has helped me give this set up a shot for my up coming Idaho bear hunt.D6234E18-40C5-4C41-B529-BD3571D3D557.jpegAFA95AEF-6A4E-4E19-9AD1-B6C4C3A842FA.jpeg4CB61640-6540-4E7E-BCF5-1FF5A9D8BACD.jpegF6AC8BCF-04C6-4A6F-B591-C5930C4B00D3.jpegBB70720C-3742-4824-A6D5-4FCA7CDE2DF5.jpeg

Will have to weigh and will take pic of bullet still. Berger 200.20 gr
Large bull elk broadside 235 yards 300 wsm 2740 at muzzle
Behind the shoulders bull took 3 steps and over backwards and done.
Bullet passed thru and left a large piece in the hide next to exit hole.
Might have another bull to try next few days
