300win to 300prc using existing barrel.

I’m thinking of having my 300 win set back a few thou and reamed for a 300 prc. Would need a wyatts box and mess with the bolt stop a bit according to what I’ve seen. Does anyone know if the factory bdl bottom metal will work? I like the case design and no belt, really about the only gain....that and it’s cool and new. I plan to shoot factory ammo. Life is just to busy at the moment to load for more than the couple dialed in calibers I already load for.
The barrel should have tons of life left.

It would require at least about .075 setback for a full cleanup and rechamber. It might not leave you any shank though with the CA barrel.
Sounds like you have a pretty solid shooter already. I’d leave it alone and build another.

Ask your builder before you get too excited. Not everyone want to stuff their reamer in a used tube. Some guys bring in a cooked throat and hope for the moon but the poor bushing can't find anything to touch and the reamer is chewing on 40% carbon.

I'd leave it.

Coming from a guy with two lathes and a drawer full of reamers.

No way I'd tear apart a proven 1/2 moa rifle for a meaningless increase in performance. In your pic that thing looks brand new. Hunt and shoot the shit out of it, then rebarrel.

You will love that scope. Have one on my 6.5 PRC. I'm with the others on 300 WM to 300 PRC. I would stick with the 300 WM.
