I have a .308 18” 1-10

looking for bullet recomendations
I have been shooting the 155 amax and 168 Berger’s
600 yrd max hunting

with the slower velocity out of the 18” is it better to go with a 155 projectile to get the most fps or stay with the 168 for higher BC and wind? Should you always launch the heaviest bullet you can and easily compensate for more drop but less wind?

That’s my underlying question: at 600 yards and in would you rather shoot the 155 or the heavier stuff?
My gun likes 155-175

Depends on what you are shooting at, imho. Deer? Use the lighter. Elk? Use the heavier. Grizzly? Bring a different rifle. :)

After thousands of rounds I have never found that 155 was the right answer for the 308. With the increase of BC on the 165/168 class bullets and a true middle of the road solution as far as performance on game I have switched from 178/180/190 to the 165/168 grain class in my 18" 308.
Sure I give up some performance past 700 or so but I am not shooting an elk at more than my self limited 500 yards and the 165 does the work.
