I’ve got a Tikka in 30-06 that I reload for and it’s not going anywhere. But I also inherited a few hundred rounds of reloaded 308 and a mess of 150gr projectiles but have no rifles chambered in 308. Now I’m debating if I should get a 308 barrel, get a rifle in 308, or just selling/trading the 308 ammo and getting something like a 260 Rem or 7mm-08.

Or sell the ammo to get started on funding for a 223 Tikka and a 6x SWFA.

Depends on wat you want. If you would like a short barrel and suppressor set up then 308 is a great option for that, perhaps the best option for it.

Otherwise there is a mountain of overlap between 308 and 30-06. A 223 would be useful to add and expand your range of capabilities nicely when added to a 30-06.

You could always get a 308 Tikka and pick up a 223 barrel later. Chop the 308 barrel to 16.5 and enjoy the handling of a carbine. Given the ammo shortage, this might get you the furthest.
