If you are shooting beyond 400, there is probably a theoretical argument for the creed, but if you are shooting beyond 400 yards, you probably know that. My creed is a little softer shooting, bu lower weight 308 monos are similar to higher weight creeds in terms of felt recoil to me. Can’t go wrong with either IMO

Under 1000 yards, either. Over 1000 yards, either. Although, I wouldn't use either that far due to how the rifles are set up.

In a heavy crosswind, the 6.5 wins.

I've had a lot of nice dead animal results from the .308 and 155gr Scenar. Extremely consistent and predictable bullet.

.308 for sure. 6.5 is just a bunch marketing hype.
I’ve been shooting 6.5 (.260 Rem) since the late 90s. I can tell you one thing, it’s currently “cool” to not “like” 6.5 because of said “hype”. You’re the one buying into the hate hype by not shooting more effective chamberings than .308

Wrong, I’ve shot a .260 since 1997. The 6.5 doesn’t do anything that hasn’t already been done.

It does feed long bullets out of standard magazines quite a bit better. I've had both. Both are excellent.

At the end of the day it's simply a case that propels a 140 gr bullet at 2700-2800 fps. I've found that to be all I need for what I want to do.

I’m a big 308 fan but if I had to pick, I’d probably go with a 6.5 creedmoor, I’ve had one for a few years and in the past few months I’ve really grown to appreciate it. That t3x superlite, SWFA 6x, sportsmatch combo just shoots lights out with a variety of bullets. It’s hard for me to pick between the 124g hammer hunters, 127g Barnes LRX, 140y accubond and the 150g accubond long range.

That gun just shoots them all like a champ off my atlas bipod. Great gun, I plan to use it for any non moose/brown bear hunt I do in the next few years.

Your .260 is a 6.5. So is 6.5 x 55. So is 6.5 cm, 6.5 PRC etc. They all shoot .264.

I also shoot .260 and not 6.5 CM, because I too have shot it since about 1998. Stop hating on a cartridge that’s basically identical to your .260.

Has the “creedmore” name been overhyped and bought into by misinformed newbies. Yes. Does that make it any less effective? No.

And what does that get you, an elk that is more dead?
Lower barrier to entry. Ability to shooter higher bc bullets that will have less wind drift. If that leads to more and better practice, all things equal, it certainly could be the difference between a dead elk and not. Enough of a reason to buy a creedmoor if you already have a 260? Maybe not. But it is something that was not already done.
