I was able to take it to 49 grains at 2795 with a slight extractor mark. Going to back it off a little and load some more.

Recoil was surprisingly mild and the point-ability of the rifle was everything I had hoped for.

Any idea what these might be?

Finally got around to trying the 52g of 2230 topped off with a 160 ttsx. Best I could get is about 1.5 MOA. Groups got a few tenths tighter than that with cci250’s. All loads had a coal of 2.819.

Palma brass ran about the same as the above load with 53 grains. Cci 450’s.

Also tried Benchmark up to 49 grains, and accuracy sucked, around 3 moa.

I was hoping to get around the same accuracy as prm did. Maybe I’ll play around with seating depth, although seating them out further will turn the rifle into a single shot.

I got prm’s load to shoot around 1/3 moa 5 shot groups. Very happy. FYI When using Palma brass, 1 grain extra gets the same velocity as LRP Lapua brass. If anyone has time, I added a link to a srp vs a lrp test done by benchrest shooters.

Lapua Palma brass, 53 grains 2230, cci450 2.862 coal(one full band is visible). I guess single shot it is. I shouldn’t need more than one shot anyway.

@freddyG what's your 200 grain hot core load and velocities? Those bullets can be had for cheap it looks like.

Tested some factory 185 soft points today. 1.5 moa, through on the magneto speed and it sucked it up to .5 moa. Had the same results for two more groups. Interesting finding. 2805 fps with ES of 15. Honestly I'm pretty happy with that for my dedicated timber rifle. Id imagine a 185 soft point would do fine on bull elk up close.

I didn’t chrono any of the loads. Yes, the hot cor bullets are dirt cheap, $16 for 50 bullets. I just used them to put some rounds down the tube. The gun looked like it didn’t get shot much by the previous owner.
