My guess is that there was an overstock somewhere. Just a guess though. I've heard good things about their gear in general.

I have the HDX and it’s a fine daypack for a light load. Plenty of pockets and the layout actually works. Large zippers that make access easy when I have gloves on. Would never pay full price but I got in on a 1/2 off deal and consider it well worth it.
