Haven't seen a whole lot of load data on the .460 Rowland. Plan on hunting deer with it this Fall. Currently have some Hornady 185 gr. XTPs over 12.5 gr of Longshot and some with 13.0 gr. 13.5 gr is max with an advertised velocity of 1427 fps. in the load data that I have found. Anyone know of any other loads. They seem like they would be a little light weight, penetration may suffer?

What you shooting that Rowland through.
I've got a .45 super out of a Glock 30SF.
Wouldnt mind trying it on hogs.
Just shooting BuffaloBore, havent done any handloads for it.

Mine is a Glock 21 conversion and my dad has a Springfield XD conversion.

265gr gas check hard cast over 11gr of Longshot. Moves out at 1150fps. I think you can get to 1200fps, maybe 1250, without issue, I just haven't tried yet. Underwood loads a 255 cast at 1300fps. No idea what powder they use. Longshot or AA9 should be good with the heavies. You may have to size the cast bullet to 0.451" depending on your chamber. My Glock cycles it fine as is, my dad's XD needs them sized.

230gr XTP over 12gr Longshot for 1325fps. This is the standard load I use. The one above is for bear country.

I have nothing using any smaller bullets. The 230gr XTP works well on deer and hogs.

I am shooting .460 through my Kimber Target II. The load data I saw showed 10.2 gr of Longshot with the Speer Gold Dot. Probably don't want to drive them too fast. Will chrono and group. Should be a devistating round on deer.
