I drew a late cow tag and have had the time of my life on this hunt, despite only seeing one elk.

This is not a normal rifle hunt dealing with trucks at every trailhead, I have yet to meet anyone since the December 15 start. Pics don’t do it justice, but here’s a few.

Been taking a friend who can’t get around much anymore so the SxS opens up so much country. Just about where you need a sled level of snow, but not quite.

scouting trip.

I gotta get up at dark thirty tomorrow, I’ll update after tomorrow’s hunt.. Did some overnight stuff too Recently.

That why I like 4th rifle so much. If I can find em and if I can get to em, chances are I at least get a shot opportunity.

" I can get to em" = I'm looking at getting a timber sled :)

The first pics were from an early December scouting trip. Here are some from more recent trips. Went yesterday and cut a lot of tracks, still not seeing elk but still having a great time. The guy in my pic is a much older hunter and friend. This will be his last hunt, I really hope to get him on an elk, I’m just not sure he can make the shot unless we are close.

Yesterday-

Last week I went solo for a few nights. Probably the coldest temps I have camped in at 10 degree nights. It was glorious.

I have a cow tag good for a few more weeks. Need it to snow to push the elk into my area. Mild winter... Good luck to you.

I had the time of my life, and I got skunked. Spring turkey is my next chance to get skunked lol. We need snow bad btw.

I learned a lot of a new unit, and the cabin I found? CPW guy said it is fair game, 400 yards into public land. I’ll be applying again for this hunt.

Man, No way I'd gut a cow now, never do anyway, but man, fetus would be 4 months at this stage.
