I flew into NL, so I had to use a local NL taxidermy. Well didn't have to, but easier not to fly home capes, and skulls with CDW laws. Got a bear, and a moose, mounted both. tanned the hides, shipping, crating, euro. Ooch.
Would have been cheaper if I drove up, and drove every thing back across the boarder myself. But my time away from home doesn't allow it. So I flew in / out. At least I got 2 trophy's to show for it. :) and some great memories.

I'm going back :)

I had same painful experience w/a bou euro mount for $650, and $850 meat shipping for moose & bou meat 350 lbs. If I ever were to do NL again, I'd just drive it if poss.

and yes I agree w/the posts above, lets see some pix

OP would post pics, but the Taxidermist copyrighted the work as his "art". OP has to pay a licensing fee for each pic posted.

??? That seems very strange to me. I don’t know much, if anything about copyright laws, but if I pay to have something made for me, it then becomes mine, to at the very least show off with pictures.

You know all we wanted to see was the chair you had sitting in front of the mount. If the mount happened to be in the background... well...

So 6k and one is a euro? Which one euro? Include shipping / crate (if need be)?

I priced out a shoulder mount moose done in AK with removable antlers. We ballparked it at 5,000 after mount, crating and shipping. I thought that was high.

I have that same mount and it cost me $1600 (just taxi fees), about 10 years ago. I imagine the price is probably a little higher these days, but even if it's now $2k for that same mount, that's another $3k for shipping? By way of comparison, I can have a full size pick up truck (upwards of 7500 lbs.), shipped from Seattle to Anchorage for about $1200-1500.

The mount is YOUR PROPERTY and you can post any photo of it you wish. The taxi has no right to claim copyright w/o your expressed permission. Did you sign anything giving him such authorization? If he is using your mount to promote his business, he is the one taking advantage. And any photos you take are all yours without question. If you do not want pictures of your mount used for promotional purposes and never agreed to allow this you can demand he take them down. The only exception would be if you okayed the mount to be publicly displayed and then he took photos. If he did in the privacy of his shop without your permission, he has no right to display them until & unless you authorize it. It's YOUR PROPERTY THAT YOU PAID FOR. The fact that you hired him to perform the work doesn't automatically transfer copyrights to him.
