Any favorite 6.5 bullets for billies? I normally hunt with a 26" barrel but that combo weighs 10#. I'm putting together a lightweight 22" carbon barrel gun for mountain hunts. I'm used to running 140's at over 3100 in the longer barrel and that load has a great string of 1 shot kills.

I'm researching the load development for next season now. I've been thinking about bullets like the Hornady 143 ELD-X, 142 Accubond, and 143 Norma Bond Strike.

That's a good option. It sounds like you had RL26 stocked up. I missed doing that but I have a lot of H1000 to work with.

H1k is a great option with 130s. I'm getting about 3100, and sub half moa.

I haven't tried it with the scenar, but I'm guessing it would also work with the 139s

Any particular reason why you went with 130AB instead of 142's? I'm getting 3144 with H1k and 140 Bergers out of the 26" barrel...1/4 MOA from my McWhorter.

I’m a big lover of 140 AB’s in the 6.5’s. I use them in both my swede and prc. Iv yet to take a goat with the prc, but have been on multiple using accubonds and they’ve always done well. I’m not sure a goat would notice 10 gr of bullet going to a 130gr, but I doubt it.

Lots of success stories using the eldx and softer type, but you wouldn’t see me using them on a goat personally.

140 Accubonds if you can get them which are supposedly better constructed than the 142 LR Accubonds.

My preference would be the 124gr Hammer Hunters but that wasn't on your list

I used a 124 hammer hunter for my goat last year. Worked great. Moving about 3000fps. I built a little shorty prc to accomodate for my suppressor, so I use 4831sc for powder.

I haven’t killed anything with the Norma Bondstrike yet but I found a really good load for them in my 6.5 PRC. .25 MOA Lapua brass. fed 210m N565 out of a CA MPR.

Great responses from everyone. Thanks! I was considering running a can on this gun and I have a couple of good options on hand. I need to educate myself on these Hunter Hammers. I've never used them. What do y'all like about them?

Nice. I shoot a lot of 140 Bergers in the 6.5 PRC and 195 Bergers in the 7 STW. Those 2 loads have accounted for 8 one shot kills in the last 2 seasons from antelope to aoudad to nilgai, black bear, elk, and several large deer. Almost everything drops straight down lights out.

I didn't have any H4831SC but Brownells had 1 and 8 lb in stock. I ordered an 8#. I look forward to trying that with a suppressor. If you're looking for that powder, go check at Brownells. It's also good for 270 win, 25-06, 300 win mag and some others.

I like em at first because there were Made in MT. Tried them out on some critters and they work really well. Bullets do weird things, but in my experience with them what I really like is they produce and entrance and an exit with some really good blood trails, for me they did this at ranges sub 400 yards. Over that, when I recovered the bullet, it was a perfect mushroom and retained about 85% of it's weight.
