Have been considering getting a 6.5 prc for some time now. Almost every manufacturer is making the prc in 1:8 twist but few have 1:7…I have always been a heavy for caliber guy but wonder if it’s necessary in the 6.5 prc? This gun will be my everyday whitetail gun, but I would like to take it on a few western hunts for mule deer, elk and maybe moose if I ever decided to hunt one. Should I go with the 1:7 to shoot the 156’s? Or should I stick with the the 1:8 and shoot the lighter rounds?

Part of me says go with the 8 and if I want a heavier bullet just take the .300 but I’m so torn and would like some advice from hunters actually using the prc for deer and other western game. What are you all using and having success with? Are you all able to shoot the lighter stuff out of 1:7 or is that just bad news?

1:8 will shoot the 156EOL.

My 264 Win Mag AI shoots them very well with an 8 twist barrel. 5 shot group.

8 twist is fine. 7.5 gives you even more options if you want it.
Would 7.5 be ok for the lighter 140's? What brad has a 7.5? I thought I saw one when I was looking but cant seem to find one

I have a Bartlein 7.5 twist on my .260. Shoots both 127 LRX and 124 HH’s very well.
