I messed with a magazine fed 6.5 PRC model 7 from Collier Rifles that functioned well and stacked hornady factory and whatever handloads we were using- but I have no particulars on the build. I know Joe has built 4 or 5 of them now, on both Long and short actions. Like the 65-284 and 6.5 257ai it may be too much of a tweener for me in the end.
Man, that would be awesome if I could figure out how to do that to my Model Seven.

What atmosphere are you figuring that in?

The "Needmoor" is 2000 fps at sea level and 60 degree.

I have your 270 WSM 140 accubond at 1780 fps in the same conditions? So how much more does the 270 WSM need over the "Needmoor" .

Like I said I will concede that the 6.5 CM does recoil less if thats what you mean by pop gun. But if a bigger boom on your shoulder but only to be over 10% slower at distance with 45% more recoil is your gig then by all means run your "hammer".

Neither is a bad choice no doubt but lets not act like the 270 WSM with a 140 accubond at 3200 fps whipping up on the "pop gun". :)

Something must be off in your calcs, my 270wsm at 800ft above sea level and the 170gr Berger’s are still going 2,026ft/s at 700 yards. I would think the 140’s would be faster.
